Since I haven't been on holidays since last summer (which doesn't really count as I was in Gagetwon, NB in the field for 7 weeks with the Army), I will be off to Europe on August 13th, returning in the first week of September. For those of you who are curious, I will be stopping in England to visit my Mum, followed by a trip to France to participate in the 60th anniversary celebrations of the raid on Dieppe in 1942 by (mostly) Canadian soldiers. My regiment, the King's Own Calgary Regiment (RCAC) participated so I will be there looking prim and proper with a handful of others. After that, I will be off backpacking to Italy (where organized armies were born) and Spain (for some scuba diving and rest time) and wherever else I have time/energy to go. :)
I don't anticipate any problems with the site while I'm gone, however, I will be checking my mail from overseas as much as I can so if something comes up, please let me know. In the case of a MEGA emergency (not sure what), please contact Pooga. I will give him a list of contacts for him to call/email if the server goes down or something drastic like that. Also, any special requests for me to bring back stuff from Europe (candy, Vegemite, dancing girls, etc…) will be entertained on a first come, first served basis and will depend on available travel bag room. :)

Since I'm half Australian, I did actually know that. However, I don't really like Marmite, so I simply substituted Vegemite. You're too smart for me Pooga. Regarding the cigarettes, sure, I can probably do that. Any flavour, brand or preferences?

Don't forget to visit Vimy if you haven't been there before. The KOCR must perpetuate some regiment that had been there (The Alberta Dragoons?)

Seriously, just take lots of pictures at some of the historic sites and e-mail me .jpg versions. I don't smoke, so I don't want/need cigs.

Okay, 4 packs of cigarettes it is. These will be the first cigarettes I've ever bought (I don't smoke either). As for the pictures, ya, of course. I will post all my pictures (I have a digital camera) on my EOTE site like I always do. And as for buying stuff for myself, well, I will pick up some Vegemite (yes, you can get it there) and maybe some clothes. I'm not really into trinkets or stuff like that. Would rather save for my next holiday (to Peru at Christmas maybe).
