BC Said "Co-op gives me money back on my gas at the end of each year and none of the other gas stations give back as much."
How much does Co-Op give you back each year. I used to Do all my Diesel transactions there. In one Year I put in over $5000. in Diesel in the truck ( ON MY CO OP Number )
I never got anything back.
Now I fill up whenever possible at Superstore. They usually have a price ( on Diesel ) about 2 cents a litre cheaper, Plus you get your 5 cents / Litre instand Rebate for food. I know the ( on average ) $30/ Week really helps on my groceries.
Did you check superstore?? I know Fasgas's Litre Log doesn't pay quite as much, but that is straight cash they give you as opposed to Superbucks.
Fasgas is = 2% which now that gas is over a $1.00/ Litre that means less than 2cents / litre.
PS. When you pay cash At Canadian Tire they give you 5 cents / litre in Canadian Tire Money. Which means your tools would be cheaper. ( But really Who shops at Canadian Tire? ) ( LOL Then again we did have a discussion about Canadian Tire Money Tracking b4!!!)
I find Canadian Tire to be a great resource for certain car parts, tools and to some extent sporting goods. Over the past year or so I have earned enough Canadian Tire dollars through buying gas and other items to pay for a Basketball net for my boys and a Sirius Sportster satellite radio (about $400 total) and only had to pay about $40 out of my pocket. To top it off I earned about $8.00 in Canadian Tire money. It all depends on what you are looking for.
On those kinds of pruchases at Co-op I am surprised that you wouldn't have received a rebate at the end of the year. I don't spend a lot at Co-op but know others that do and they always gloat about how big their rebate is….
I've always received a rebate from Co-op. I buy most of my gas there. Usually the rebate is enough to buy a full tank of fuel.
LC, could you be receiving a letter in the mail from Co-op, figuring it is junk-mail, and tossing it out without opening it? Those rebates are sent out by cheque. You could be throwing money away! LOL
Just a few points to clear up any misconceptions-
Saskatoon Co-op and Regina Co-op (Sherwood) are not the same. They are seperate Co-ops that have different policies of dividend payouts. If you are a member, the dividend is decided by your board of directors and may be different from Co-op to Co-op. Saskatoon Co-op returned 4.93 cents per litre last year. They also paid back varying rates on other commodities: groceries, lumber, travel agency, etc. There are over 300 Co-ops across Canada, and I`m sure as many different policies on dividend returns. I know of a few that have never returned profits to their members, and some who were very profitable and returned lots.
In Saskatoon, memberships are $10.00, once in your lifetime, and as an example, I received 130.00 back last year as a cash payment, and roughly double that amount stays in equity that builds year after year. This is paid out when I reach 65 years old. (got a few years to go yet…)
Here is the link for the Sherwood Co-op in Regina, looks like we don't get it until we are 69 or dead.

Thanks for the info Idjit…..
-moving also closes out your account and pays out everything that they owe you :)
I guess you are doing pretty good then. You don't have to collect the superbucks + when your employee's fill up, You can collect your superbucks without chasing them, etc.
Thanks to Idjit I found out you get a nice rebate.
In the webpage according to what Knewty put We receive 2.7% of anything purchased in our area.
It isn't bad & we can apply for payment of equity each year.
Personally, I can use my grocery money each week.
As for my comment on Canadian Tire.. It is a good store for certain things from time to time. & Yes I like my CDN Tire Money, that I Collect.

well i wanted to wait for my hit dad to speak up as he is our local co op expert. i have thousands of dollars sitting in my co op account for when i turn 65 and my yearly check is like hundreds of dollars in some years and less in others. i buy gas at canadian tire when they have a 10 time coupon come out. they don't come out in saskatchewan much but they do in ontario and i have them send to me from time to time. the canadian tire staff out here look really strange when i hand them in but they are a national company and the coupons are valid at any canadian tire gas bar anywhere. when you have 12 vehicles running around and all the equipment you use is gas operated the price of gas has a serious effect on my bottom line. effective this week we are adding a gas surcharge to all of our bills to help ofset these costs. in one short blitz when i had 12 of those coupons last year from canadian tire i collected almost $200.00 in canadian tire money (just one of my vehicles empty sucks up over $150.00 in fuel at one sitting.) do i get upset when gas goes up a few cents …well from a guy who started driving at 35 cents a gallon yes you could say it bothers me.
when i had my store in regina i joined the sherwood co op and must say they are a very poorly run co-op i moved out of the trading area and never got my refund ever even after four letters so it does not surprise me that they do not pay out as well as saskatoon co-op. many people think thatthey are all tied in and your co-op number works anywhere but they are wrong. now if saskatoon co op continues to grow maybe they will start to take over all these small ones and become stronger and wide spread. regina should take some lessonsfrom the saskatoon co op on how to run a top notch operation. saskatoon co op is strong because they treat their members well and reward them yearly. the trip to austrailia when i turn 65 paid through my co op rebate will be nice. gas prices suck may have to start buying electric or solar lawn mowers. (just kidding they are to slow and have less power). the john deere mowers we use are self propelled walk behinds and travel at 5 miles and hour in 5th. gear.
I get about a hundred to 150 each year in payouts. and I really dont use it for all my groceries. mostly for pop.
