this has likely been discussed at length here, but…..
Does the value of your hit bill matter to you ? Is the higher the dollar value, the better? (or "worse").
Is getting a hit on one of your $20's better than getting a hit on a $5 ? Is a hit on a $100 more prestigous than a hit on a $50?
….. or is a hit a hit ?
Discuss.
a hit is a hit is a hit is a hit! :o)
but hundreds are more rare but I think that is cause most people will mark a hundred dollars worth of 5's rather than a hundred so ask for smaller bills at the bank.
Likeantics said, ahit is ahit is a hit, but the larger bills tend to stay in circulation longer so long life hits a more possible with them, and a long life bill is worthy of admiration….
Also for the 100's… alot of our members will refuse to take hundreds, just because alot of stores do not cash any of them.
I still don't see why stores don't take 100's when all the security marks are on the new bills.
I agree, a hit is a hit is a hit. Antics makes a good point about the long life of 100's.
That said, my hit % on 100's is way lower than $5's and $20's.
I have way more $20 notes in circulation than I $5 notes.
This being said I actually have about the same hit count for both $20's & $5's. It is much harder to get hits on bigger bills, this is why many trackers collect only $5 notes. People are willing to hold onto a $5 note longer if it has a stamp to enter it, than people are willing to hold onto a $20, $50 or ESP $100 notes.
My personal stats say I have 51 % in $20's & 26 % in $5's yet only a 10 hit difference in hits.. being both 500+

True. If they are THAT concerned about getting a fake bill, they should just learn to be wary of them, check them carefully, and accept them. It's a REAL pet peeve of mine …. businesses who are afraid of money.
I would personally do my best to boycot any business that did not accept a bill of mine. They are in business to accept money, and for no other reason…… and the one thing that is most important to do, they are incompitent. It's ridiculous.
I once recieved large notes at the bank to pay a bil (50+100s) went to the post office down the street and they told me they wont eccept them and advised me to get them changed in for smaller denom.
This is the frigin post office i was mad and bank has closed so i asked them well do you not have a black light or do you just not know what to look for in a counterfiet note, she just looked at me and said i'am sorry sir, as i walked away isaid i thought so
My ques. is why doesnt the govt. post office have a black light to begin with, come on what are they woth to a business.
The bill detector at my store was about $150.00 but has already saved us Approx $350.00 by detecting bad bills - mostly $10's - As for a business not accepting $100 or $50 dollar bills they are suppose to have a sign clearly stating they do not accept notes larger than $20 or something to that effect - But then there are the people who pump $2.00 gas into their car and come in to pay with a $100.00 bill cause they only want change, few gas stations keep more than $80.00 bucks in till and that includes all the loose change - Anyways, we sometimes have to refuse those $100 just cause we can't make change
As people pointed out many places do not accept the $100 bill. pukpukg made a good point to most store don't accept the $50 & $100 bills cause it is tough to make change.
most stores like to keep only 30 - 40 in their tills to make change.
WHY DO STORES ONLY WANT TO KEEP $30 - $40 IN THEIR TILL? Is the question to ask!!!
THEY DON'T WANT TO GET ROBBED!! If & when they do, they want to minimize the loss.
These stores usually will accept the $50 & $100 bills when the total is over the accepted amount. In the past I have never had a problem spending a $50 or $100 bills when the total was over that amount & I had $20's, & $10's to have a small amount of change given to me.
Again Stores are protecting themselves from SEEDY people by taking precautions. ( LOL read my Census post iin general forum )
