Hi! I'm a new user to this site, and I find it very interesting. Just wanted to say that I watched a segment on CTV National News last night where they talked about if marking notes is legal or not. I read the letter on this site.. and the news broadcast confirmed it exactly.. not illegal, but discouraged. Thought it was neat to have been brought up on the news. Have fun everyone! :)

BANKCOLLECTOR

so i wonder who's bill they got and which news caster got it? for them to bring it up somebody must have got one of our (or the other guys) bills.

Pooga

The "Ask Us" segment was initiated by a question from a person in Okotoks.

If it was indeed inspired by seeing a marked note, I would suspect that it was one of ours.

Can you imagine the fuss if it was illegal??? All those bank tellers being charged for stamping a note while cancelling a cheque, or writing a number on the top note of partial bundle! (right J-Lynn?)

BDKINGSTON

Very short clip, but it does confirm that marking notes is not against the law….I was hoping for more information…

J-Lynn

i would send the feds after you, poogie.. now that I know where you live

21 inquiring minds want to know.

so are you trying to tell us that you have 21 different personalities??

Oh now wasn't that a slip…I think it was supposed to be "21's inquiring mind wants to know" but then again, I suppose it depends who wrote it .

BANKCOLLECTOR

well the clip never said anything aout stamping the notes and ctv did not give us any air time so… not a very informative piece. However do we have any members in that town (area) of Alberta that can scout out where Mario lives and works so we might be able to spend many dollars in his area. okay okay only fooling with ya … Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I think as we grow even larger in size the good old Bank of Canada might even give up a small corner of the bills for tracking information or maybe just allow us the information of how to track the bills like the government does. Magnetic strips … GPS embedded … while DR has provided us with a great site I am sure that the governments have been tracking money far longer than any of us can remember only their system just gets better and better. Plus if anyone out there thinks that sections of our government do not watch and monitor this and the other money tracking sights then they are living in a dream world. somewhere in our government we the tax payers are providing a wage for someone to monitor our activity on this site. Do not kid yourselve big bother (or sister) are watching us. We are allowed to play here at the hand of DR. but DR is allowed to run this site at the will of the government. If they thought this site or any involved with this site posed a threat they would be on us like a ton of bricks. Right now we are just an information area for them to gather more activity stats.
For me I do not care what they see me do as long as they do not cause me any grief.

I haven't watched the clip yet but if "Mario" was the guy from Okotoks who asked then I suspect it was Mario who is from Belgium and works with me at Zymeta. He saw me writing on a not a few weeks ago and told me that it was illegal. I bet him $100 it wasn't and then he spent the day trying to prove me wrong. In the end he said it would be up to a judge or something and still hasn't paid me. I'll confirm the identity of the asker once I see the clip.

Update: Ya, that's my co-worker. Ah, the satisfaction of being correct. Especially since he was SOOO convinced that I was wrong.

Way to go Mario! If dr gives you a virgin $100 (unmarked), I'll give you $20 more if you mark and enter it! dr's my witness :o) Who else will join me?
Clowns to the left of us, clowns to the right….here I am! (Not NOW 21 - This is NOT a good time.)

Sarge

DR and I ARE the Feds!!! He and I were both seconded to the Bank of Canada years ago! DRs excellent work and my ability to write up an outstanding evaluation on him to the Bank of Canada encouraged them to convince the army he should be promoted to Sargeant early, despite his young age…
