I've started converting the website so it supports both English and French. However, I am looking for a couple of people who speak French to basically beta-test my "French version" of the site. If anyone is interested in helping me, please email me.
Thanks,
-dr
Sorry, French isn't my first language, nor is it my second. I hope some Quebecers out there can step in and pick up the slack, I only have 26 hits for the 1 year+ that I've been here.
Great idea though, it should help out the Maritime provinces too, as New Brunswick is officially bilingual. As for making the whole country officially bilingual I don't think that will ever happen. If this site originated in Quebec, it would have to be in French, English optional. Even some essential services like the ST.CUM public transit system operates only in French. It's nice to see that French is included outside of Quebec, sets a good example that I wish the French would follow. Way to go dr!
I know some, but its only up to around a 7 year olds level.
mines at a grade 8 leavel, I have french next semester
Have you ever been to Quebec, wes_bos? Its not the same Parisian French you learn in school. But then again, if you're an avid student of French studies, you may know more French than me. The other site was also thinking of having a French translation, there's always the Bablevista site for that.
A lot of people in Ottawa are bilingual.
At my school, we learn the Quebec versino of French.
Interesting, how is that? Back in my day it was all baguettes, bonhommes and textbook French. Its about time. Is this new or did I miss the boat on these new teaching by this much?
Thanks for the offer everyone, but I really need fluent speakers who know the everyday idiosyncrosies of the language. I have university French, but taking French classes in university doesn't mean you are at a university level. To be at a university level would require you to know enough French to be able to attend university in French. That would be what I need. :)
