Hey does Cmt have a popup ad on the login page. I have had it a few times. Not bothersome at all. Hey maybe DR is making some $$. Good idea!

I get them about half the time on my comp. I was going to mention it couple months back, now I know I'm not the only one.

Nope, there are no ads on this site. If you are seeing pop-up ads, it's because of another website you visited. And if you think it is, well you are wrong. The only way you could end up with a pop-up ad would be if someone had some fancy JavaScript in their profile. and you would only see it when you visited their profile page. And if that was the case, they would be removed as soon as I discovered it.

I have an ad to this email thing to refer people. It is in my profile, should I remove it, I don't want to be banned.
thank you

dr

No, it's a bad idea. No ads on this site. As for it happening twice, well it could have been from a site that you left just before coming to CMT, because I guarantee you it did not come from anything on this site.

one thing I'd recommend. . .although I'm no computer genious. . .is an AdAware-type program. . .scans your computer for little "presents" that get left on your computer when you visit certain sites. These little "presents" make all those ads pop up every now and then. . .I got mine for free at download.com. . .just be careful that when you're deleting files not to delete something important. . .trust me, I know better now :)

YES! Ad-aware is an excellent little proggy and I highly recommmend it for any internet user. Why? Because sometimes sites (or if you download something an install it) will put "spyware" into your system. This tracks where you go on the net and who knows what else as well as seriously slowing down your net connection and computer. I scanned my parents computer once and it had 115 pieces of spyware on it!!! Go to the site, download, scan, and they're gone!

When you're computer illiterate (like me) and you have no idea if the files that show up as being "bad" really are bad. . .it helps if you make a back-up file (there's an option) just in case there is something important. . .then you just have to put it back on. . .I didn't do that and the first time I scanned my computer I just deleted everything it came up with. . .now every time I start I get a box saying there is a missing file in my registry. . .oops. . .
