In my constant quest for good things for this site, I took an old stamp I had made for a trade show a few years ago to Rose's for them to change the pad with CMT information. I Wanted to donate it to a fellow member to replace his somewhat large stamp. Now it use to be, when you placed an order with Doug (who has now left the company)the stamp was done the next day or if you were in early enough the same day. I took the stamp in and was told it would be a number of days before I would get it back. The prices have gone up and now there is an extra charge if you want any color other than black. After talking to the owner I was told that the cost of the stamp change would be just $2.00 less than a new stamp. Well I guess I did the revamp of the stamp for enviromental reasons as the savings are less than the cost of the stamp pad. But now here is the kicker and the reason I will never use this business again. When I showed him what I wanted on the stamp he proceeded to tell me how stupid it was to track money and stamping the money was not right and maybe not legal. I told him about the letter the site has on file and tried to tell him the fun of tracking money. Why any business person would object to something that brings them business is beyond reason. I pointed out to him that his company has made many stamps for money trackers and as a result our site is good for his business. I then asked him if he had ever visited the site and was told he would not waste his time and repeated he thinks it is wrong to mark the money. I thanked him for his opinion and told him to call me when my stamp is done as I have many more bills to mark and the other six stamps I have bought from him for the same purpose are not enough. I am sorry to see the employee that use to give such great service is now gone and that the owner has started to work the front counter. I am sure soon enough he will find the loss of customers will hurt his bottom line but of course it will not be his fault he owns the place and his attitude and opinions take priority over great customer service. Some people / owners should not handle the front counter or the company phones. The customer might not always be right but the customer is the reason we are in business … make a suggestion if you may but do not try and push your opinions down the customers throat. It use to be a great place to buy stamps… however the times they are a changin. For members on this site Gouche92 makes stamps and is a member of the CMT family… if he had the same type of stamps as rose carries I would have had him do my repairs. His stamp format is different but the stamps he has made me seem to work good.
Wow! That is incredible… I have some stamps I was going to take in and have changed but I certainly won't be going to Rose (these are stamps that I had before I started making my own).
If you are looking for a place to make stamps that won't give you any hassle (or at least they have never given me any) is The Stamp Man on Avenue B.
At the moment I am having some supply issues with stamp parts but hope to be back at it in the fall…. Thanks for the plug anyway BC….
where exactly is the stamp man ?

That's too bad. I used Rose's for all my stuff. Sometimes a store like this, that gave such good service then fizzles will learn something and return to give great service again- we can only hope…
This happened to a great little restaurant in Regina where I used to work. The owner I worked for sold the place (she was retirement age) to a fellow who bragged that he hadn't cooked in 20 years and wasn't about to start now. He didn't trust any of us to work the counter (and the till) even though we had run the place in her abscence more than once. We steadily/quickly lost business so that when I left 1 month after he took over, there wasn't even half the customer base.

This happens more frequently that we probably realize. The preson that starts the business puts their heart and soul into it, hires good people and establishes a good customer base and then at some point sells it for whatever reason to someone that really doesn't get it. They don't let the staff do the job that they have been doing for years and ignoring the reason they are in business - - - the customer.
I purchased my stamp there…Nice stamp, but was charged 55.00$ for it…

That is a little (a lot actually) much… But I have had people complain about paying $30.00 which included the cost of shipping…
I guess I should be doing it for free and mailing them out on my nickel… ;o)

Subject: 30 dollars for a stamp?
Don't you think thats a little expensive for a stamp? Honestly.
Maybe that person has been out of the loop and didn't realize that stamp technology has changed. When we refer to a stamp, that is the whole self inking unit including ink pad, not just a rubber on a stick.
I know when I started I did not realize a custom self inking stamp was such a reasonable price. As others, I was directed to Rose's and my eyes were opened to the selection.
I also need a change in my stamp and a repair on my other stamp. I have been procrastinating. I may just procrastinate my butt over to Stamp man instead.
You all know, of course, that the answer to your stamp problems is to do what I do… write on them by hand. Ha!

Have to agree with you BC, the poor guy probably suffers from CMTer cramps when he hand writes all of his bills, and to think that I offered him a custom CMT stamp all of his own for free….. :o)
I just couldn't bring myself to accept your stamp offer. Old habits die hard.

Remember it is a lot easier to hand write on bills with auto-pilot engaged on an airplane than cruise control on the highway!
forgot to mention… there was a 5$ shipping charge…
I think 30 is very reasonable..
Nothing like doing it by hand!
oh I am soooooooooo sorry.. but if you took this the wrong way… I can't help where your minds are!
snicker

There is certainly a lot of truth in that…

You naughty, naughty girl….
Maybe the next time you guys in Saskatoon get together, you should sign a boycott petition and deliver it to that not-so smart businessman to show him just how much business he can lose by being critical of his customers. It's not just money tracker business he could lose if the message is spread that the business is not customer-friendly. It is bad enough that some people complain about marked bills when you are paying for something but I think it is really out of line for a business person to be critical of the reason you are doing business there.
