I heard from a friend in Ottawa that the Ottawa Sun or Times reported that Canada is going to shut down the militray. Is this true or is my friend full of crap?

When we are absorbed into the USA I intend to run a cell of the 'Canadian Liberation Army'.
Sign me up! Down with Bush!
…it's already happened.
Were Screwed….this country, and the whole word is going to S**t. What next?
Thats right, we are. Think about it. Chretian is the most powerfull HoS in the "democratic" world. What ever he wants done happens. The House of Commons has no power to stop him and the only people who can, the Governor-General and the Queen, don't. In the US however, even though we all want to disagree, its the most democratic government in the world. If Bush had Chretians power, all the Middle East and terrorists would be dead. But anything he wants done has to go through Congress forever.
But anyways, can I get a serious answer to my question? And I would also join the CLA.
Probably worse than you think kaiser, Quebec has true power over Canada. Almost everyday they are coming up with more schemes to con money out of Ottawa. Out of all the money collected at the gas tanks only about 20% are spent on roads. Have you seen the roads in Montreal? Potholes everywhere and too many needless accidents on the road. No respect for the Queen- how is it that She can speak better French than Chretian does English? Native land claims will never improve as long as he is in power and what about those remanufactured air bags? Don't even get me started. Email me if you want to discuss this further. TANTPIS QUEBEC!
I know I shouldn't ask, but what does "Tantpis" mean?
Yee Haw! I have a feeling this forum could get pretty serious! Hmmmmm…..maybe we should start that "CLA" now!
LOL I sound like a redneck yelling yee haw……but im not just so everyone knows:)
The queen speaks french? I didn't know that. I have more respect for the queen now…So Chretien's french isn't good? That's hilarious 'cause his english sucks too. French swear words are funny…
I think we've discovered your problem…
I'll have to second that question?? What is TANTPIS?? ALso what is the CLA?? Dumb Question I know I have to ask.
CLA. Canadian Liberation Army. The group Sarge is making after the US takes over Canada.
J-banman This is what ANGLOFROG STATED:
"No respect for the Queen- how is it that She can speak better French than Chretian does English? "
PAY ATTENTION
There may be questions later…..
Yes. She does speak better French than he does English. When she just recently visited Canada she and Chretian gave a speech and her French was pretty darn good. I don't know where she'd practice this though.
TANTPIS means TOO BAD! I think its usage is more of an attitude thing than anything else. Whenever Anglos ask for more English rights or to open up more English schools the answer usually is no, too bad. Ask for the public transit system to publish their maps and schedules in English and the answer is no, too bad, this is Quebec. Ask for stop signs to be saying STOP instead of ARRET and you get, too bad, this is Quebec! Ask to turn right on a red light like they do in 99.999% of the world and they say, too bad! Even the parking ticket you get for having your car parked on the wrong side of the road at the wrong time of day would be in French (first), English in tiny print, given out to you by the cop who speaks little English and just hates to lower himself to the Anglos level by not speaking his mother tongue. Provincial sales tax is about the same elsewhere (7 or 7.5 or 8%, I can't remember which) but is based on the purchase price and GST combined. Yes! A tax on a tax, too bad this is Quebec. Ask for a milkshake at Harvey's and they say no milkshakes here, but we serve poutine, too bad, this is Quebec. Its about time we had less French running the scene, now they want to make the whoe country bilingual- they already have New Brunswick and that little island Pierre Miquelon, totally Parisian. Why can't we have someone from up North, or the Praries or BC or a celebrity, hell, give it to Gretzky! Someone else to run this country other than Quebec.
That's why I say TANTPIS QUEBEC!
Anglo: Wow! Do you want to move or something, 'cause you sound like you belong in the west.
re: Montreal. I was there for a week for a trade show, and I found it to be the most unfreindly town I have ever been in. Every once in a while we came upon an oasis of sanity- certain restaurants and stores, but for the most part we were treated like crap. Things like this tend to stick in your mind, and next year we're going to the maritimes. I thought to myself "I'm glad I got Suzuki to build me that auxilliary fuel tank for my truck, 'cause now I can drive through Quebec without even having to stop for fuel." It's too bad, because Quebec is such a beautiful province, but their attitude is turning it into a tourism backwater. I've even talked to Americans that said they will avoid the province at all costs. What a shame.
Wow ANGLOFROG you sound like you are definitely upset with the french only views.. I have travelled through your province and have found any I have encontered willing to try even if they speak only broken english once I have tried in my broken french, but it sounds like I hsve been lucky.. To bad we all can't be more like the french I have encountered..
I was lucky too. I was there for a week a couple of years ago and had no problems. Even when I was low on gas and had to hit a gas station on the way to Laval!
But ask Sarge about some of his experiences. He's mentioned them before, but some of them are worth repeating.
My mistake. I often read too fast for my brain. Someone told me today that Chretien didn't know English at all when he began his political career. No wonder his english is faulty. I've never been to Quebec. Sounds interesting. I never cared for the french language. I learned German and I found it to be much easier. French Canadians need to realize that as long as Quebec is a province(which it always will be), they are in the minority. They should all know and use english. It's not as though learning english will eliminate thier precious heritage. Maybe we should combine the two languages, and we can all speak that. We'll call it Frenglish.
Frenglish only works here, and is used amongst the francophones mainly, this is tied in with their local slang which is clearly not Parisian french. I'd move tommorow but I have to tie up a few things here first.
ANGLOFROG…I'll help you pack! LOL I won't rant again about the six months I spent there.
Being the No.2 language in Canada is minor when you consider that we are part of a North American economy, in which English is far more dominate…some 330 million english speakers vs about 4-5 million french. And when you also consider that the US thinks of Mexican-Spanish as the second dominate language on the continent, that pushes the french factor down even further. Regretably, if francophone Quebec wants to be a full an active participant in the North American economy, the working language will be english.
