About 3 weeks ago I was 9th caller in to radio station Lite 92 FM to win one entry of fifty to win a trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I was the 7th to register. Last Sunday, Dec. 3rd I was 7th to be drawn to go stand beside one of fifty balloons - all containing prizes and one containing the Grand Prize. When I broke the balloon and couldn't unfold the paper because the helium made the paper sticky I was already certain that I was probably getting a gift certificate. Another contestant had said that he won so I thought he had the grand prize. The manager from the Victoria Square Mall was helping people unfold theirs so I asked him to help me and I thought he told me I had won a digital camera. I wasn't sure that I heard him so he said again, "digital camera". I was thinking that was okay because I didn't have one. I wasn't reacting so he said, "You won the Trip to Punta Cana!" Thanks! Barcelo just bought Breezes Punta Cana Resort Spa so the new name is Barcelo Punta Cana ** and the trip is Jan. 17th to the 24th. There is one hotel with 768 rooms on this resort.

This is the 3rd thing that I have won that I don't think is just luck! Someone has helped me. The first year of the Hospital Home Lottery I was watching the grand prize draws on Johnny Sandison and as they drew for the skidoo I silently thought that would be nice but not what I really needed. As they drew for the boat and motor I said to myself, Yes, I need a boat of my own. I used to compete in water-skiing and earned Alberta's first woman bare footer trophy (August 27th 1971). Could I ever use that boat to teach my kids how to ski. They drew my name. I was busy screaming when the phone rang and my neighbour confirmed to me that yes I had won!
My next unbelievable win was one mother's day I really wanted to see Skate the Nation Figure Skating show. LC my oldest bought me one ticket, which I was grateful for. Then I was getting ready for work and on Lite 92 they said to be 9th caller in with a Mother's Day Quip what your mom used to say to you, so I did. That qualified me for the grand prize draw of 4 ice level tickets and a pass to the Hotel Sask to a reception to meet all of the skaters. About 9 am my phone at work rang and the call display showed the radio station. I could hardly answer the phone! I had won that plus a bouquet of flowers. Considering it was my birthday too that was just plain crazy! My mom, neighbour, LC, other son and I got to meet, take photos and get autographs of all of the skaters and were treated to a smorg of appetizers and drinks. I didn't think anything else could ever top that. Every once in a while someone thinks you need a boost. I didn't take a vacation this year so I think this is my reward. We've applied for our passports and got a few shots. Hoepfully, all worth it. Thanks for all of the congrats! My wish is for all my friends to win a holiday there too. (Lets see if that one can come true)
