It's no fair you know that? People would think that all this 'highschool' drama, would end in highschool. I mean, I would expect you all to make friends, and enemies, but really. Some of this drama is sickening. People privating others saying things are their fault, or how they should be 'happy' that they just entered their bill. And worse yet, it's getting cliquey. Like really, there's even people cheating. This website is suppossed to be for fun, and yet people think they have to win, think they have to be the best. If it's suppossed to be fun, it should be fun. I mean people should learn not to cheat. But apparently, there are some 40-60 year olds who still have the mental state of a 12 year old boy. Seriously. It's getting old. I'm sick of it happening at school, and then it happens online? No wonder I barely come on here anymore.
I'm with ya on this. I don't understand the cheating part either. I want to see where my bills have traveled to, not how many hits I can get. For proof of this, look at the bottom of my profile. You'll see that I've recieved all of 4 hits in the past 2 months. As for the 'highschool drama' ending in highschool, sadly it does NOT end when you leave highschool. It will continue into the workplace. Not every workplace will have the drama, but some will. Mine does. At times it's so petty it feels like elementaryschool drama. You're absolutely right, there's nothing to win here except bragging rights. No prizes of money, trips or trophies. Aside from voicing my opinion, there's nothing else I can do so I just mind my own buisness, enter my own bills, & hope I get some hits, (preferably in places that my bills haven't been to yet or found by another regular). That's my two cents worth. :)
Yeah! You guys rock!
(You should work where I work!)
Seriously, though, I just enter my bills, read the forums, and enjoy he site. Take my advice: just do your own tracking thing, and forget about all the stuff that ticks you off. I've gotten involved in the contoversial stuff, and really, unless I can have fun at it, I just don't get involved any more, and I don't care what other people do because they are only hurting themselves.
It's a new year! (soon), and y'all kin take a fresh start at everything- shake the old hurts and anxieties off and run free and clear into the future. Remember, you have a choice to be angry or at peace. No one can force you to be miserable.
Cheers!
Idjit
Well said, Idjit, well said…. Peace and happiness to you in the new year….
You are going to encounter that everywhere. What galls me the most is the people that go to church, pretend to be Christians (which by the way means to live your life as Christ did, not get rich and have it all, but to give it all). Then they leave church and steal from those who have precious little all week long. They lie, steal cheat, do anything they can to get their own way at whatever cost to others then have the gall to call themselves Christians. ha ha ha. I am having cheese and crackers today. I gave our Christmas dinner away. My husband is gone now taking it along with a box of other stuff we rounded up. And I am having a drink and going to bed. I work tonight. I volunteered so that the ones with small kids could have today off. And you know what? I feel darn good!!! and i wont gain a ton of weight eating stuff I really dont need. no dishes to wash either. LOL
I agree, but don't blame it all on the Christians- the other folks have learned to lie and steal and cheat as well, I know, I've met several of them.
You are also right about sharing. I think one of the greatest joys in life is to go the grocery store, buy a pile of groceries and box 'em up, and take them to someone who really needs 'em- anonymously. What a laugh to visit them later and hear the story 'you guys will never guess what happened to us!'
Don't worry about the cheaters. dr knows about them, and keeps an eye on them. As long as you are happy with the way you participate, don't get stressed about the others.
(Unfortunately, publicly posting their misdeeds just leads to arguments.)
I did not mean for anyone to think that I meant ALL Cristians. I meant that I know a lot of them like that. On the other foot, I also know some athiests who have extremely high morals and a good sense of right and wrong.
I have left some things on peoples door steps anonymously too but it is not good to do in the winter as stuff freezes. This is a good time for everyone to dig through their closets. If you have not worn it in a year, donate it to a shelter or friendship center.
I know what you mean antics. I work with some people who claim to be church going people, but they're the first to cause trouble, lie, and hold grudges against others for petty reasons. They go to church on Sunday to ask for forgiveness, only to go out and do everything again. I do work with one that goes to church, not every Sunday but most of the time. She's as honest as they come and very trustworthy.
Standing in a garage doesnt make you a car anymore than going to church makes you a Christian.
There is a couple in the next town here that I call Satan and his wife. (and yes to their faces). They have to go to church two towns away from theirs as they are asked not to attend. They lie and cause trouble. understatement. they messed with me once. actually phoned my son and said that when I was at their house(never been here) I told them that I hated him etc etc etc. He knows better but was upset that they said that. He did not even know them hardly.
Half of the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm but the harm does not interest them.
-T.S. Eliot, poet (1888-1965)
I will say this of my cubs…they are not perfect but they do know how to give… we belong to a group called freecycle where old things are passed onto those that may use them… they do send on their clothes to more needy people… I know a few others from the site here that have done the same there… and yes it does carry on all thru life but at their ages its hard to understand why people do the things they do… and antics… shame on you talking about the satin in our family… opps just seen you have one in your town… you'll have to pvt me about our family antics… lmao… and yes your son would know its a lie thank goodness… but it tis the season to give so we passed on a box of food too to someone more needy… girls had a blast doing so… so pheonix did find some hope in the season!
Hey, I just happened to be browsing through the topics and I was reading this conversation…
First of all I'm very glad to be oblivious to the cheating and stress happening here! I didn't know what was happening and that's cool. I'm just trying to track a few bills and see where they end up… all fun, all good. Props to all who think the same.
Just figured I'd also comment on the debate about stupid Christians and stuff: antics, you're right when you say being a Christian "means to live your life as Christ did, not get rich and have it all, but to give it all" Very right. I'm actually a Christian myself… and I define Christian as following Christ, loving Him with all of me, and making Him and His agenda the top priority in my life. It's tough being a Christian. Especially cuz it involves being humble and learning to love selflessly… something that none of us were born with.
To clarify a couple things:
1) I see a lot of people doing the same things you see them doing and still calling themselves Christians. It sucks. Its wrong. I hate it.
2) I do a lot of stupid things, too. And I call myself a Christian. I suck. I'm wrong. I hate it.
3) As a follower of Christ, I believe that he loves the unlovable (me!) and is willing to change me for the better when I ask Him to change me.
So yeah. Great dialogue, you guys. Cool ideas, too. Talk to you later.
so like what do we win for being first? ;)
There is no prize for being number one on this site just personal satisfaction. Some of us are competitive and some on the site get upset / jealous at the competitive nature of others. As said more than once by Idjit and others on this site just enter bills enjoy your hits and have fun. I do not care who passes me on the top ten list and if they have played hard enough to pass me I wish them well. I see many members who are climbing the ladder at a real fast pace and that is what makes this site fun for me. I am not here to rain on anyones parade but to enter a few bills get a few hits and reach my own personal goals. If a person is happy to enter one bill a month and enjoys the forums then that is great. for those who like to enter many bills and climb to the top … I admire the dedication and congratulate them. I am not here to pass judgement on any other members (some might say I have mellowed) just to have fun. Good Luck to all my fellow trackers in 2007 may you all reach your desired milestones. Personal note for 2007… IF YOU DO NOT HAVE SOMETHING NICE TO SAY THEN SAY NOTHING AT ALL.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE SOMETHING NICE TO SAY THEN SAY NOTHING AT ALL.

cogent as always, pooga. thank you.
Rudyk … Glad to see you are still around the site from time to time.
You have been very quiet over the past year… I like the change.
Pooga the quote is true, however …

well… you know one can only wax quixotic against blinkered phillistines for so long before he realizes it just ain't worth his energy…
and then called to authority (always capitalize names of deities…):

wonderful in theory but i don't recall too many people being banished for transgressions, be they significant or grievous – the mere fact that some continue to act with impunity is ample evidence of the vicious gums those rules have…
clearly vigilanteism is often all that is left…
I think I agree with both the ideas presented… if that's possible.
This is a public place. We have to be polite. No question about that. The threat of being punished or kicked out shouldn't be the only reason we're polite and courteous. That would make us very immature, eh? When I was a kid I would obey my parents so as not to get a spanking. Now I obey authority because I respect thier values and they make me a better person.
There is, Pooga, a time and place for being bluntly honest. But we gotta feel out those times & places wisely or we'll end up in a bigger mess than before.
I guess in a place like this… we gotta speak the truth in love. For me that means waiting until I'm no longer mad… then saying something. My words turn out wiser and, although honest, they're altogether nicer and less offensive.
And we also gotta know that we can't control other people… if they're misbehaving… there's only so much we can do, and ranting about it on and on doesn't accomplish a lot.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
I like all of your seperate opinions and I accept them as that. Seperate opinions. Everyone has a right to their own opinions and morals, so certain things are right in certain peoples eyes. It's just upseting to see how corupt and evil the world has turned. It just irks me that people even have to cheat on websites. That's why I posted in the first place. I guess in a way, it was pointless.
I'm sorry you feel so hopeless, Pheonixflairs.
It's just upseting to see how corupt and evil the world has turned.
Hasn't "turned" that way. Always has been and always will be. Learn to live with it.
