Cash to buy truck

A man came in today and bought a truck with $15,000 cash. Mainly hundreds and fifties but with one $1000 bill. Some of the 1975 $100 bills are in perfect condition. Is there any point entering all of these, and should I stamp them?

I talked to the salesman and he said the guy pulled out envelopes with three to four thousand in each until he reached $14,000 of the $16,000 for the truck and said to write the cheque for a thousand dollars. Then he pulls out another envelope that has five or six thousand dollar bills and passes one to the salesman. He said that he hates spending these because you can't get them anymore, but that he had about twenty of them at home.

Now I'm wondering if I have $1000 to buy this bill.

If I deposit it in the bank will it be destroyed? Anyone know?

Yeah. They're taking them out of circulation. It gets shredded then landfilled. An ignoble end to a noble bill…

Lucky you, buy up what bills you can. I didn't think buying vehicles was "allowed" but hey why not. I once bought a car for $1000 using tens and twenties and the salesman at the used car lot didn't seem too pleased about counting all that out. Oh well.

They aren't landfilled. At a coin store 45 min away(its the closest one), you can buy bags of shredded money for $5. It comes from the BoC and has the name on it and everything. So, they sell the shredded money, to make more money. Its a continous process.

How I wish the thousand hadn't been so ignominously denounced! Sadly, I've never gotten one…it's too late now, probably…the one time I did see one (not in a collection, that is) was in a lineup at an Ikea store. Might as well enter those bills you got…if they're still going to be circulating, who knows who else might enter them…besides, then we can have more than just one 1000$ bill entered on the site!
Oh, and about the shredded money: Why on earth would you want a bagful of it? Does it actually have value???
