I received a $50 radar bill (FHU22**22) from the ATM the other day. It's condition is Fine, with a very faint number "15" written on the front of the bill in red ink. There's also a very small, faint line in red ink near the "15". Is it worth anything, or should I send it on its way?
If it is exactly "FINE" than it will be worth about 60.. I dont have my book around so I can't help you. Also, if I saw the full num, ber, if it has only 2 numbers in the RADAR such as 2288822 than it will value higher.
Thanks, MmmBeer. It does only have two numbers (2292922). How would I would I go about selling it? I'm really new to all of this!
a dealer wont give you book value, maybe try listing it on Here post it on the paper money forum, maybe someone will be interested. Also try selling it on Ebay..
Thanks, MmmBeer, that really helps!
You got it from an ATM? The only ATM's I've ever been to these days only give out 20$s (a few give out fives too).
I as well have not seen a 50 from an ATm. Must be in the rich neighbourhood..
TD machines still give out $50's
Nice. I should try one sometime. (I once tried taking out a few hundred from an ATM to see if it would give me fifties (the bank was closed). Sure enough, it didn't. At least I had lots of twenties to stuff my wallet with, though.)
I got my 50 from a CIBC machine. It doesn't seem to matter how much you take out once it's over $100, sometimes it will only spit 20s no matter what you ask for and then next time you'll get 50s, usually when you only want 20s. Guess it has a mind of it's own….
Its all a conspiracy in order for banks to further more make your life miserable!
Yes…I can picture a hidden camera opposite the machine, linked to a TV in a little room deep inside the bank, where some person is watching you, with a control switch that decides whether the machine gives 20s, 50s, or shuts down and refuses to give your card back.
My boyfriend was in a small town near Seattle recently and used the ATM in a local convenience store. He asked it for $60 and got two twenties and a piece of paper. So, he asked the clerk at the store why he got a piece of paper instead of his third twenty. She just handed him a twenty and explained the blank piece of paper is a signal to refill the machine. Must be an ancient machine!!
Anybody ever run across something like this?
I think that's a good idea, we have one of those non-bank machines that charge another $1.50 everytime you use it. The store runs it and 99 % of the time it runs out of money on me, they have to fill it and I have to use it again with another $1.50 fee. I'm going to tell them about the blank paper, I think its a good idea for here!
I refuse to use them.
For the $2.50 fee, I'd rather drive 6 blocks and use one of my bank's machines.
At $1.50, I can't afford to use them at the time.
Me either, but when your in the middle of nowhere and need cash, you don't have a lot of choices. The local bar will give out money and there's no fee. But,if they're not open, this is the only place. It's just another rip off.
Fortunately for me, my bank is right by my house/nearby convenience store, so I can avoid the whole $1.50 rigamarole. But I agree…the paper refill notice is a good idea. It almost reminds me of at a grocery store, when a shelf has a sign on it at the back saying "Refill Stock #…."
