I look at a lot of my bills under a black light just for curiosity, I've noticed that the new 5's and 10's have fibers that glow bright red. I've also noticed that the 1991 sytyle 20's and the 1988 style 100's and 50's have a glowing yellow square on the back. All bills have the glowing green dots but some are missing the yellow square, can anyone explain why this is??

I know not of this yellow square you speak, but I've only had my black light for a month. On the new 5's and 10's, check the profile, it says five (or ten), has the coat of arms and bank of canada, but this mark sure doesn't last.

I hope you get one of my bills that have been entered in the last month, there is a "secret" message you will be able to read under your "special" light :-)

I think I might get me one of those black lights.
Another toy for 21.
CJ send some of your "secret" bills to Edmonton!!
What a cool idea to make people smile when they're checking bills…

Sounds like fun, reminds me of when I was a kid, remember that store called Consumers Distributing? Remember their carbon-copy order forms in the front of the store? My brother and I used to scrawl nasty messages on it with our fingernails so that when an unsuspecting customer brought their completed form to the desk and the clerk looked at the copies, they were mortified! HA HA HA HA HA !!!

I remember Consumers Distributing! I used to go with my grandmother when I was a kid and always wondered why it was so small at the front and just what the heck was in the back… good memories, that. (Anyone remember why they went out of business?)
Ummm…about sspurrel's question (sorry if I got the name spelled wrong)…I know it's a stupid thing to ask, but could the square perhaps have been the optical square on the front upper left shining through to the back?

I wish I would have thought of that one when I was a kid! I remember getting bored waiting around for my mom to do her shopping there - messing with the forms would've livened the place up a little!
