Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if there are any other members that collect foreign currency? I have always collected Canadian bills but over the last 6 months have come across some interesting bills from other countries. My wife just brought home 37,000 in Indonesia Rupiah. It only works out to $4.10 CDN, but I can add it to my British Pounds, Mexician Peso's and US Dollars.
Australia…
There are also Euro trackers, but I don't have the URL handy.
It is interesting to see other countries bills
Ya. I used to have currency from about 30 or so other countries until it got stolen a few months ago, but I do want to get my collection going again. Years ago when Walmart was Woolco, they used to sell packs of foreign currency. Thats what got me started.
That is so interesting. I was a little kid then, so I don't remember that, but I do remember Woolco.
So just for us that don't know about it, what was the deal? What did a person all get in a pack?
I was just a kid then too. I'm 32 now. If I remeber right, you got about 6 different bills in a package for $5.00 or so. They varied from China, Indonisia, Argentina–just to name a few. I would like to be able to find a similar thing now, but havn't been able to.
I wonder what the profit was like. Hehe, lets give about 50 cents worth of money for their 5 bucks. Or was it within reason
Ya it was something like that. I checked was some of it was worth, and ya…pennies!
I am shocked you don't see more stores doing that then.. LOL
Hello all=I have always been into collecting money, even as a child. I can't get into everyting I own but for example, I have coins from the Bank of Upper Canada. That is from pre 1867.
Robert
sounds like real collectors items. Its real interesting to see these bills and coins. Theres lots of history there
I'm 19 and just starting my foreign and historical collection, but I've inherited and found a few neat things. At most right now I have some old brit pence from the early 1900's and American bills for states money. The 1 and 2 dollar bills from Canada that mum saved for me and my siblings are fun for sure though :)
Also, there are stores that have you buying foreign money, as far as I remember, Investors group relies on the fluctuations of currencies US versus Canada, or Canadian dollars against Chinese yen, the yen goes down, and some of the investment is switched to it, then the yen goes up and is switched back at a small but noticeable profit.
