Did anyone get an e-mail from Anonymous-mailer@cdn-money.com today? I got one this morning but my computer blocked it. It is a message from the Ajantha Family in Sri Lanka asking for money, so don't open this e-mail if you get it! How would they have got my e-mail address anyway through this website????? Can't figure that out.
Even though you have hidden your e-mail address you have selected YES for Anonymous e-mail. Anyone can send you an anonymous message that will arrive in the mailbox you have entered on the CMT website. I have sent you an anonymous message to demonstrate…. gouche92 (Site Assistant)
The user who did this sent a lot of emails, each done manually through the anonymous email page. I will be coding a preventative solution to this problem over the coming weekend. My apologies to those who received emails (myself included).
But I can assure you that your email addresses are safe, as there was no breach of the server nor was there any hack done. This was good old fashions manaul labour spam. Sigh.

I'm thinking that the anonymous email feature may have outlived it's usefulness. What does everyone else think? Becuase I'm thinking that if someone wants to contact you, they can send you a private message.

I have never really liked the anonymous mail, so maybe it has outlived it's usefulness. I agree with the comment on sending a private message.
Private messaging works for me as well. Perhaps the anonymous mailer is redundant..

the anonymous mail can go the way of the dodo by MY estimation, however, it did have one advantage over the pm utility here in that i could manage it like any other email into folders/forward it, et cetera. the pm likely need some work to make it have as much utility. i, as is my wont, seldom discard emails or messages (disk space is cheap!) but my private message list is already of prodigeous length and i am loathe to discard any of it. (i still occasionally look back longingly on BC's first rude message to me…. ahhh… the memories! :) ). i know it may be a more involved programming task but if the anon mailer were to go, i would like to see some at least rudimentary email-ish functionality to the private message utility (folders perhaps?… the ability to send them to my email client???). just a thought.
dump the anonymous mailer and if ya want rudyk i can send you an email weekly or pm weekly so you will not have to miss all my kind words. personally i throw out my trash weekly and would never think of keeping it around to look at it again and again.
I had the feeling that everybody received this Ajantha message. That is why I checked the forums first before reporting it. I find that the anonymous e-mail is not used much, so yea dr you might as well get rid of it. Can a message like the one from Ajantha be send through private message by copy/pasting or is there a way that it gets blocked if it is the same message to lots of people? Otherwise he might try to send it by PM next time …
