I'm not yet frustrated, but I have to admit I'm starting to question my playing with bills. I have entered almost 800 bills, and still not one single hit.
I guess playing from Québec is not easy, since there are not too many players…
Am I the only one getting such a low level of hit (not to say, null?)
It seems that lately there has been a drop in the number of hits. Personally I was giving 15 to 20 hits per month, lately I have only been finding 1 or 2 a month. On he receiving hits side, that has gone way down for me as well.
I don't think it is just you, it appears to be a trend. Hang in there though and the hits will come.
Hang in there damien, don't give up yet. One of these days the first hit will come and I hope that it will be soon for you. Just wondering, do you mark your bills? That makes a big difference for getting hits. Good luck :)
Exactly, hang in there. Last month was very slow for hits, but things will improve.
In reference to hits, I was wondering if the banks are removing all marked bills out of circulation. I have spent a whole week recently in Winnipeg, a couple of days in Saskatoon and in Regina, spreading, and spending my marked bills where ever I go, and with the amount of bills I circulated, surely there must be hits here or there. Comments?

I wouldn't say "all marked bills". They always remove 'mutilated' notes, and some are a bit more aggresive than others. But, if anything, I have had a few more hits lately than I was getting over the summer.
I'm not yet ready to give up, but it would be fun to get this darned first hit. Especcially, it would give me the impression it 'worked'. It will also shut some kind laughers I had around me :)
We'll see when I reach 1000.
I don't mark my bills. I guess I would feel like cheating (this is personnal, guys, don't take it for you).

I was thinking along drawing money from the ATM, adding the numbers and putting it back in the ATM. Boy… I'm mad. :D

If you don't mark your bills the only chance you have of getting a hit is if another user gets them and enters them..Since you are in Monteal this is very unlikely.. You need to mark you bills and then when someone else notices the stamp and has an interest you will get a hit..

bdk what do say we track a crew to montreal and find them stealth bills and leave buckets of our own bills behind. pooga , sarge , jd, bdk, wally69, bc … a montreal field trip we could all be there in a van if we rotate drivers in 3 days easy we take in the sites (al bundy style) and maybe a few of you can hit the greens and then back in the van and home. or we could fly out for a weekend fly out friday home monday …cmt road trip?

i truly think that in saskatchewan, at least, we have pretty much reached saturation. pretty much everyone here has seen a marked banknote and if they were curious, they have entered it and they either joined, or have no further interest. i don't really have the time to investigate but i suspect that anonymous hits in saskatchewan as a percentage of all hits has leveled off or perhaps even declined (well… except for those furtive anonymous hits people may give to themselves :) ). i have talked to many people about money tracking… students, colleagues, vendors… and they are all aware of money tracking or have seen marked notes. but, generally, they really don't care (most of them) or they think there is something nefarious about it. but moreover, most folks just see it as the epitome of geek-dom. whatever.. i'm a geography bookworm and computer and internet zealot who attends star wars conventions and watches star trek religiously… like i am gonna be dissuaded by someone calling me a "nerd"?! :)
at any rate… if you are at all interested, i can direct you toward several good references on diffusion theory in general and "adoption" versus "saturation"…

damien, just so you know and anyone else reading this is reminded, that practice is generally frowned upon and is mentioned either in our code of conduct or FAQ. since you, yourself wouldn't mark those notes, there wouldn't really be a major issue, but best be aware of it. the goal here, and from what YOU say, you share it, is the tracking of the normal flow of money. nothing pejorative here, just a reminder!
but i agree with the others her – it may, indeed, be a long wait for stealth hits… especially in the CMT-wasteland that is the province of quebec. i am NOT knocking what you are trying to do…i like the experiment's design! but for what you are trying to accomplish, you may want to also enter your notes on the other tracking sites (i can't believe i am directing anyone to "the dark site"!!!). again, since you are not marking them, there would be no problem.
and this raises another interesting aspect of tracking in quebec. i have considered for a while stamping my banknotes on one side en francais in an effort to increase hits in quebec (and perhaps in ste-lazare! :) ). if you DO choose to mark your notes, you might consider that strategy! (CMT tends to be a little too "anglocentric")

What you said about Quebec is also my understand : not enough players. I guess the usual stats won't apply to me then :) after all, I'm almost 5% of the whole Quebec input on my own…. I'm trying to attract some people : may be I'll be more lucky when I get a hit ! :)
And I'm not sure that entering notes twice will be fun… bah, I'll stay here and get a champagne bottle when this happens!
Besides, I also have euros and some USD… (not counting some other strange change). This is becoming a chore.

We're all trackers here, some more serious than others. When a tracker such as yourself sounds despondant, we all pitch in to cheer them up! All trackers are special. Being in Quebec with so few trackers nearby, you're extra special.
Here's a thought: When you get to 1000 entered, enter another thousand. But on this batch, write or stamp in French: "Track this note online @ www.cdn-money.com" on the back only. Now there's an interesting exeriment, if you have the patience for it.

Don't let them fool you… your special because we have so very few Quebec trackers and we want to capture a larger share of Quebec people to track with us. The fact your marking bills is great but we must get you to stamp some of them. I will personally send you a stamp to use on bills other than the new fives (in english) if you will use it. After you have ten hits using my English stamp I would then go out and have a French one made for you and send it out … or you get one and send me the receipt with the stamp inprint on it and I will send you the money to pay for it. Now there is an offer I think is a win / win situation. THIS IS A ONE TIME OFFER AND EXPIRES IN 30 DAYS.
My boyfriend works for Sasktel internet tech support, and he told me that during the summer internet use drops significantly. Now that it's fall people will be back online and hopefully the hits start coming.
