DR: I was at SARGE's place the other night and watched him get on this site. I was amazed at how different it looks on his machine!
For example, the pop-up menu on the home page. On his machine it's more like a drop down menu when clicked, and just a plain white box. On my machine, it's a gray 3D button that pops up when clicked.
What's up with that? Is that something you control through the website???
I not sure I fully understand what you mean. Is it due to screen resolution/window size or the fact that different browsers render things differently? Becuase I only use (and have access to Linux) I only ever check the pages on my Linux machine using the Mozilla browser. And I run my monitor at 1600x1200… :)
If you can send me some screen shots perhaps I can fully understand what you mean. However, as an educated guess I suspect you are referring to differences in how various machines (ie. Linux, Mac, Windows) render stuff. Because I have no magic in my HTML to make things different for different machines; everyone should be getting the same HTML.

OK, will send you a shot.

Ahh… there's a telling point. Had an HTML instrustor from the University give our user group a lecture recently. He said that when building a website it was important to test your creation on as many platforms and at as many resolutions as possible. But you're in the business.. I won't presume to tell you how to run it! :-)
The reason for the different views is the internet browser you are in. For internet explorer it is the normal box/pull down menu. On the other hand… Netscape Navigator has the 3-D bottons and the other style of box!

Heh, that is good advice… sorta. I use standard HTML so any browser that is complient with the standard will be able to view it properly. As for resolutions, well I have my browser set to about the full screen size of a 1024x768 monitor so I can sorta see what it looks like for someone else at a lower resolution. Ultimately though, that taks time, time which I'd rather be coding with. And I've had no complaints so far… :)
