Deductions

I am still a newbie and I would like to understand why points are deducted everyday from the CMT score.

Thank you

mesmerize

For every day you miss entering new notes, you lose points (25, I think). Entering even one new note per day keeps your points fairly stable.

Actually you lose around 10 points give or take. Entering one bill gets you almost back to where you were the day before. You need to enter 2 or 3 to get back to where you were and slightly ahead. These are approximations only and mileage may vary….. :o)

trippy_trip

hmmmm… I did not know that, but had always been curious about the subject. Thank you for the info gouche92. Now I know how many bills I need a day to keep my score up.

Onetobeseen

Thanks for the explanation. I noticed that too with the scoring and entering one bill, it doesn't seem to matter what denomination it is because the score seems to go about roughly the same, but I don't really monitor my score that much

Solracaceb

Thank you very much for all the replies. Now I know what is going on. I will enter at least a couple of bills everyday.

I used to know the exact calculation for the score, but it has changed…
but it is still roughly the same.
score = q[{lnsr(# of bills entered)}{ln(number of hits)}{1- (dayys of inactivity/90)}]
i am not sure of what q is it is a variable vetween 80 & 100
Ln is the natural log
- the natural log is kinda like sqare root.. where the bigger the number is the slower it gets bigger.
so the number of bills you enter gives you much less points than hits do.

sr is square root.

Days of inactivity basicly means you loose 10 % per day. so if you are roughly at 500 points you loose about 5 points per day.
at nearly 1000 you loose 10 points per day.
then when you miss a couple weeks you are down say 60 points…
in your profile & on your home page it will show your real score, but on the score board it will show your calculated score of 500 - 60 points.. + 25 points per day until you catch up to your real score.
I hope i helped with your scoring question..

Pooga

plus..

If you have not been online in a loooong time, you could have a negative score. As soon as you add a note, you return to zero regardless of what the negative score was. (then + 25 points per day until you catch up to your real score)

I still don't see why I am being penalized for not entering bills everyday. I don't own a bank or business and don't have access to cash everyday.

dr

You're not being penalized per se. The score deduction is a trade off such that regular users are rewarded for constant use of the site and being part of the community. The same goes for the maximum score jump of 25 points per day.

Otherwise, someone could simply join up, enter in a tonne of notes to gain a high score and then simply disappear. With a diminishing score, they may jump up in the score rankings at first but they will eventually 'disappear'.

As I said, it's not about punishment so much as it's about a fair reward for all. :)

Although it's nice to see where you stand among all the other trackers, one has to remember that this site is about TRACKING MONEY and not a contest site to see who can beat who. The scoring adds a challenge and creates some fine competition between members, but that's all. I wouldn't have it any other way neither. Love the competition!

tracking money??? is that what we do around here… points system works fine. geez wally your starting to sound like rudy.

your welcome we need more members like rudy.

That could be a "good" thing or perhaps a "bad" thing…… :o)

I would assume since Rudyk was "perking up" the "bad" thing would be in reference to the male organ. Of course we all know Rudyk is a "member" in "good standing" who is always ready to "rise" to the occasion.

I just had to "toss this off"

Good one…

Aw come on now guys I know that I am very likely the guy you would expect to call Rudy a D— or a P—- but this time I was being nice and giving a compliment and the goes Rudy and Blows it. I do think we need members such as Rudy to keep this place special. How can you have a debate if everyone is on the same side. And this I can say Rudy and I are seldom on the same side.
