First Stealth hit

Wasn't expecting this when I was entering 2 bills before going to spend them. Heck, I wasn't even going to enter them.

No markings on the bill. Pretty surprising, especially considering the distance.

way cool

Can anyone translate his comment?

I think it is a antique store in Lasalle a suburb on Montreal. The wife and I were there last summer.
Anyone else out there know?

Ask damien if he/she has been marking any of his notes.

It's either one of many, an entry error, or a missed note.

there is more to this story! good job MmmBeer in finally rewarding damien's perseverance in stealth-marking his banknotes! take a look at this thread . it was an interesting experiment and now we have some evidence – it appears you have to enter over 1000 unmarked banknotes before you can expect a hit. :)

congrats, damien – glad it worked out, and i hope you enjoy the champagne! ;)

Hi there

It is possible that people are tired of the marked bills but I truly believe that many people do not track them because the screen to track them is not intuitive and many people, especially not very application savy will not take too much time to do it. They try once, cannot understnad it and they give up. Try to enter a bill yourself and you will see that it is not that easy. Many questions come up. First the button has a text 'Add Note'. A person is not adding a note, they are just tracking and so that is the first confusion. Then they get in and you get the same screen with 'Add new note'. They are supposed to be tracking so they will think twice about that. No one wants to enter anything new. With a simple change of 'Track Bill' I believe we would get more hits.

i respectfully disagree. i think that the anonymous entry and other aspects of banknote entry are almost completely obvious to anyone who actually takes the time to read the preamble. it is written in a lucid fashion but actually requires some degree of reading comprehension. i made it easily past the first page on my initial visit and i ain't the sharpest tool in the shed. i am unclear as to how "tracking" a banknote is "intuitively" different from "entering" one – especially if one has taken the time to read the welcome page.

as well, i believe we are encouraging people to track "banknotes" and not "bills". i don't mind one whit this didactic turn of phrase in that we may be encouraging the more canadian way of referring to our currency. besides…. i KNOW "Bill" and he hates being tracked… :)

that being said… i don't think that that is what this forum thread is about…

well we respectufully disagree with each other, but what I meant is that - first of all, I doubt that anyone just tracking a banknote, will read even half of what the page displays. So they will see the button 'Add ..'. The first thought is, 'Well I am not adding anything, I am just tracking it, which is quite different. The second page has the same issue, this time a bit more complex because the button actually displays 'Add New…'. A person that gets here than is more confused because this is not a new note at all. They are just trying to track and existing note.
In my opinion, the first screen should simply be 'Track Banknote' and the person would enter the number and if there is a match a message should be displayed and allow for the tracing of the postal Code and the comments. This would increase the number of hits.
I am sorry if this is not the proper thread, but I am not still very familiar with the threads and may very well be in the wrong one. :)
