DIESEL

WELL THE DAY HAS FINALLY COME WHEN DIESEL FUEL IS HIGHER THAN REG. GAS. For years they said buy a diesel truck the fuel is cheaper and will last you five times longer than a gas engin. Well that is all bull huckey from what I have found out. I bought a DIESEL truck and it cost $9000.000 more as it was DIESEL and then I went to get the yearly tune up and it cost more as it is DIESEL then went to get an oil change and it cost more as it is DIESEL. Had to go to the dealer to get it fixed when it broke as it is DIESEL … my local regular garage only works on gas engins. Now the gas company charges 5 cents more than regular gas as it is DIESEL. So the next truck I buy will NOT be DIESEL! The fact that this overpriced high maint., special parts, only selected mechanics piece of DIESEL equipment is going to last years longer than my other trucks is of little value as the body will fall off it as fast as the regular fuel trucks and everytime I pull more money out of my pocket for fuel and repairs I will get to hear the words …BUT IT'S A DIESEL!

Diesels have their purpose…
they are supposed to get better gas Mileage…
I haven't owned a diesel so I wouldn't know.. I can only compair a moving van.. to a gas moving van..
In that it is 150% better. what would ost $20 a day in diesel would cost a gas moving van over $50

In a moving van that would be a easy link to the amount of POWER a diesel has over a gas vehicle.
In the future I may have to consider a diesel 3/4 tonne truck so I can pull our camper.. It is a big PIG.

I am not treying to start an arguement.. I am just saying Diesels have their place…

Even the new Smrt cars are a turbo Diesel.. On a vehicle so small… you would think it would need minimal fuel & power… but aparently you can't get that great of gas mileage out of a gas car..

I do understand how much more it costs to fix a diesel though… IT is OUTRAGEOUS

goooodbeer

Our 2001,3/4 ton diesel Dodge Ram uses more gas to pull our trailer - the same road - as our 1986 3/4 to gas powered Ram. (dollar difference of approx $16 for 400K) We thought this truck would be MUCH better on fuel!

no better than my cummins Dodge 3500. it is a pig on fuel and cost more to buy and pay more to service and run. diesels suck

Well that is something I wouldn't expet goooodbeer or BC..
I know from a moving van point .. medium size deisel motors.. vs a large size gas motor.. The Deisel is much better with more power…Not extreemely speedy… tops out usually at 110 KM for highway.. but works with the power needed.
Now I am happy you mentioned that about pulling a camper goooodbeer.. cause I have a camper & thought my next truck would have to be a deisel.
