MAY I ASK when common sense kicks in …the fact that four different members have asked for this prefix to be entered and the two other money tracking sites accept the prefix as valid that your secret varification site may just may have missed a valid prefix? Or are four of us holding fake twenty dollar bills?
Does your life hang in the balance with the entry of this prefix???? Write the serial number down and enter it later when the prefix is added to the database. I can assure you that it will be entered as soon as possible.
Part of the responsibility of being a Site Assistant related to entering new prefixes is "verification". Posts from multiple members does not constitute verification nor does the fact that other tracking sites have entered the note. On one of the sites that I frequent someone has posted a link under the heading ELH that points back to CMT….., that certainly doesn't mean that the prefix is valid…
As you are well aware most prefixes are added very quickly, within days and even hours of requesting. The Site Assistants are working diligently to find and verify prefixes as quickly as possible. We are also looking for other means of verification and hope to have these available for use very soon.
The prefix will be entered as soon as one of the Site Assistants can verify that the prefix is valid and not before. Standing on a soap box, pounding your fists, jumping up and down and entering multiple posts in this regard will not get it entered any sooner.
If you prefer we can go back to the old method and wait until dr has the time to do it.
When a prefix has been verified by 4 or more members then I would think that would be enough.
Hypothetically, what is there to stop someone from sending e-mails to others requesting they ask about certain prefixes. We would hope that things like this don't occur and I am sure that they don't but we have our procedures and requirements that we abide by.
Oh now Gouche92 that comment is foolish. Hypothetically while it might happen if a goup of friends new to our site wanted to cause the site grief … but you are talking about four or five long time members who if not for this site would not even know each other. Members who have dedicated years of time on the site and have the highest respect for the site and its creator. The members who made this request would lie about a prefix (for what purpose?) In my opinion it has been handled poorly. Everything in the world is not black and white and your procedures in this case are flawed. Sometimes ya gotta think outside the box.
Yes, the process isn't perfect but as stated more than once most prefixes are added very quickly. Also as mentioned we are looking at the procedures to see if there are ways to avoid these kinds of delays in the future. You may think it is handled poorly, but we as Site Assistants must still provide "due diligence" in verifying a prefix. You certainly don't have to like it, but that's the way it is for now.
If I may, both of you have valid reasons but this is supposed to be fun and we are here to be friends and enjoy it and not get into arguments. I would hate to see you guys beeing angry at each other for this reason.
I am not angry with BC, he does make some valid points. However, as a Site Assistant, we are tasked with ensuring the integrity of the info entered. Unfortunately in this case it is taking longer than BC likes and he is voicing his displeasure.
Life and CMT goes on…..
I have from time to time been accused of losing my temper and that I'll admit to! I was very upset at the thought of being called a cheater. As I have explained to rudyk I don't care how you guys decide to run the site. Do what you gotta do and thank you for keeping it running. I just couldn't see any possible advantage to making it up. But there are strange people out there who do strange things, and I guess you gotta be careful.
Alright, now that you have had your little hissy fit, go back and read the post again. It was not accusing anyone of making up a prefix, it was a hypothetical, what if question asked of BC. If you felt that you were being accused of something I apologize.
As Site Assistants we are charged with the responsibility off ensuring the integrity of what gets entered. Unfortunately we are having difficulty with a couple of prefixes. We a grappling with how do we go about verifying a prefix when our normal method does not work. Some of the Site Assistant's are not comfortable with just taking it at someone's word (long standing member or not) as the process must be the same for all members. We hope to resolve this soon and have procedure in place for future occurrences. When that process is complete it will be posted for all to see / read.
We are NOT out to get anyone we are just trying to do our job within the parameters that we have been given. If certain users don't like that then there is not much I can say or do about that.
Again, we hope to resolve it soon….
process same for everyone?
as anywhere and in here rank does have privilages just look at the levels on this site and the privilages go up with your rank. now we are not asking for you to take the word of just one member …but when you have multi requests for the same prefix then that should be proof enough hypothetically. I also offered to fax a copy of the bill I had in my hands to a site assistant for them to see and verify (that offer was not taken). Now here is a hypothetical situation for you if a site assistant had in their hands a bill with a prefix that was not in the system would they have to verify it prior to adding it.
BC returns to the discussion with:

well, so much for the other post being your "last word" on the subject… :)
rank does not have as much privilege as you might think – nor does being a long time member. although it has been galling to some (and they STILL mention it in private emails…), site assistants were appointed and they were given the responsibilities that have become fairly well-known. most members, save for a vocal few, seem to accept that situation and the site operates very smoothly.
to address the scenario that BC expounds – i will not refer to it as hypothetical because it actually has occurred – if a Site Assistant finds a new prefix, they have and will enter it into the database. this is part of what our responsibilities and duties entail. now, BC, your connotation is that this might seem "unfair" in some fashion, to which i would respond by asking… you have gotten THIS far along and you STILL believe that life is ever fair???

BC views.
WITHOUT VERIFICATION?
Enough said it seems we are reading correctly when we view this as a trust issue.
BC sputters:

well, look who just caught up! :)
So as a trust issue your saying you do not trust those who made the request? I am sure those four or five members will be happy to hear you finally admit that.
i am not really sure why you are having such a difficult time with this, BC. all that has been said is that the rules apply equally to all – that is, and i don't think that this can be made plainer, all are trusted to the same extent.. just as always. if you want to perceive a slight, an insult, or a slap in the face from it – that is entirely your choice, or at least, your idiom.
If you guys are finished arguing amongst yourselves, May I please interject with a word of my own. How many people trusted Jesse James. He was a nice guy according to all the people that knew him, but was still a criminal in everyone else's eyes. What one person perceives is totally different to the other one. Like the lady of Justice says, Innocent until proven guilty, wait until the serial number is authenticated, then worry about your note that you marked and spent. I've done it and am still alive, so don't worry, It won't kill you to mark a note and spend it. Get on with your normal life and make money tracking your best hobby!
and the whole world goes effing crazy
wasn't it Rodney King who said "Can't we all just get along"
DELLAP It is not that we do not get along … they have not handled this request in a proper manner and have been told so.
