Website layout leaves much to be desired

This website is really poorly laid out. I signed on to try to track a bill I had found with this website on it. I have no idea how to do so, even though this entire site and all the FAQ's tell me this is the purpose of this website. It should be a lot easier to figure it out. Now I'm frustrated and signing out without finding what I was looking for and I'm not signing back in. Someone please make this website a little easier to navigate. Thanks

Click on 'add note' in the menu bar. Can't get much simpler.

indeed, even if you read only one line on the index page, it is pretty clear – and it takes great pains to assure you that you need not join to track the note.

perhaps it is a problem with perception or the comprehension of what is there? i'm at a loss…

perhaps it's a generational type thing and the button on the first page should read, "UB TRAKT" [shrug]

I have talked about this before but it seems to me that this matter is a bit of a tabu. With all due respect Rudyk, it is not intuitive at all to add a note to this site. Once you are a member, adding notes is ok, but if you are just tracking it, it is not easy at all. When I first tracked a note I only did it because I had decided I would for sure do it. I found it cumbersome and not for everyone. For those tracking a hit it should be as simple as a screen with a text field titled 'Track a Note' and you enter the notes number and press the button. A description field for a comment would be the other necessary field. This would bring in way more hits. I can assure you that many people get discouraged of tracking a note with the system we have right now.

but they never even entered a note, but he found the spot where to complain?? - jefcon

Excellent point……. :o)

If they can't figure this site out they must me blind as I had absolutly no problem. This site is much easier than some I have tried to navigate. Maybe add note needs to be ADD/Track note for some of the more visual users.

Like really, how many years has this site being operating and one person complains and it all should be changed?
O.K. then….we'll get right on that!

While we are at it, we might as well put it in huge letters and in bright colors too ;)

Actually, I have to agree with BDKingston and I am sure with 99.99% of the people that it is easy to figure out this website, especially when its just a note they want to add….

as much as i am all for the denigration of the few naysayers – and like others wonder how someone can navigate to find a FORUM but can't ken "To track this note, enter it and press this button" – there may be an issue here that is worth exploring.

on one hand, i DO tend to favour the literate and wholeheartedly support encouraging those who can pass the rather simple test on the main page. however, learning and understanding strategies are often widely disparate amongst people – even the only marginally competent – like me! (Some even manage to run their own businesses! :) ). We might take this into account on the initial page at some future date and although it may spiral into semantics, it might be worth taking a look at.

I am not sure that all these messages are referring to me, but if they are I am just amazed. I suggested, as a member of this forum that maybe we could do better, and right away the reaction is as if I want to destroy the site. My goodness people there is a reason why forums exist. I apologize if I offended anyone and I will definitely tune out for sure.

Solracaceb, I don't think the above comments were directed at you. As someone who's been around here a while, I am as puzzled as the rest of these folks at why anyone would have trouble with something as logically planned and executed as this site. I have the advantage being here to adapt to all the improvements over the years, and I know why some things are as they are.
Someone new does not have this advantage. I'm willing to bet every new user has wondered why there are entry limits for new users that are lower than those for 'trusted' users but beleive me, there are important reasons why this is so.
Once the indignation of this latest criticsm wears off, there may be some consideration given to improving tracking of bills by non-users, but I caution you, it probably will not happen unless it can be shown that it will represent a significant improvement worthy of the time and effort required to acheive it. Until then- relax, enter bills, and enjoy these little jousts in the forums. It's 1/2 the fun.

I really did not mean to stir the pot and I do not want to change anything. I understand perfectly that there are many reasons behind any application's history as I also work in the field. I just made, in my opinion, a constructive comment. I certainly had no intention whatsoever to offend no one and again I apologize if I did.
Everything is fine and I will continue enjoying the site as I have so far.
