Hi, I just got a bill that said "track this bill online". I read a couple of messages but I am not sure what hit or chase mean. any help?

Idjit

Check out the FAQ in the help section first. What we do is write or stamp this website on Canadian money, spend it, and when other people enter the serial number on this website, you can follow the where the money goes. Careful, though, it's addictive!

BDKINGSTON

Hit means that when you enter the serial number of the bill you found the people that previuosly entered it will get a hit. Chase is the glorius quest for points by entering bills and getting hits…Start marking, entering, and tracking and enjoy the site. Welcome aboard….

Hi: I 'echo' the comment from spcb67…(I too wonder what "hit" and "chase" mean).
According to the 'information' that I can glean, the $5 bill that I have was not 'tracked' for the past 6 months (187 days).. That seems unlikely to me.

It was obviously in circulation. Your first statement is therefore correct. The bill was not tracked for 6 months.

As for it being 'unlikely', unfortunately that would be the case. As much as we would like it, it is unreasonable to assume that EVERY holder of the bill would even have a computer, much less see the URL marked on the bill or enter the number on this site. In all likelyhood, the bill has passed through many hands. Much like tracking animals, you see glimpses, but the target is not in sight at all times.

A 'hit' is simply a bill's serial number being entered subsequent to the original entry. 'Chase' is not in common useage around here. 'Orphan' is a hit, marked bill whose original entry was in error so that no ownership can be established except through visual clues.

it's the thrill of the CHASE that is so addicting!!!
The adrenalin rush from competition with JaketheSnowdrift! The CHASE is everything!!
Hey…RedRider…!
Where are ya, honey?

BDKINGSTON

Hey 21 he said CHASE was not used that much, but you have coined this word for this site…I believe we all talk the chase but we never call it by name…We all talk about our CMT score, the number of hits we have entered, the number of hits we have, and our hit percentage but we never before called it the CHASE…

I'm sorry BDKINSTON, but I first saw the word chase on Idjit's profile back when I started last spring.

After reading his profile and the comments on the Saskatoon special bill, I pictured this gas station attendent running down the street yelling: "Let me see your money!" following a car filled with frightened people.

Idjit

Yeah, that's pretty much it- most of the people I work with think I'm nuts, my wife just shakes her head, and when I try to explain what I do here, folks just smile and back away slowly…

21MillionDollarBaby

I forgot to mention the glazed look in my eyes…
the desperate feeling I get when I see naked unmarked money and the near panic when I realize I left my stamp at home…
I want to cry…or say
"Hold it right there!
Step away from your money…
nobody move and nobody gets hurt…"
and then quickly change theirs for mine…

Poor 21, I think it's time for rehab again…

Crazy Dwarf

ya for some odd reason my roommate thinks I'm crazy for asking to swap bills with him every day. I think it's time to go see the shrink again!!!:)

crazz

I know what you mean. Everyone thinks I'm nuts and my husband tells me I'm taking this a "bit too far". But I have one guy that always comes in and lets me mark his bills because they are going shopping. (At least someone is spreading my bills!!)

BDKINGSTON

Sorry about crediting 21 with chase when Idjit first actually coined the word..
And I don't think this behaviour is crazy..It's perfectly normal, Isn't it??????

pappahunt

Crazy people always think their normal!! It's when you think your crazy that you hit catch 22 and for those that don't know rent the move, it's realy funny!! Oh! Before I forget Hi to whom ever I'm say hello to! Do you think senility is a symptom??

Crazy Dwarf

"Maybe if you quit giving him fives for his twenties…"

Why would I want to stop doing that, I like the deal 3 of my marked fives for 1 of his unmarked twenties. Now if only I could get him to fall for it:)
