I once found a $20 bill at the bottom of Lake Okanagan. My friend spotted it from the dock and I had to dive 15 feet down for it. What's the strangest place you've found money?

On my front lawn nested in the flower patch. ($40.00)I also live next 2 high schools and a elementary school and there is a large amount of foot traffic in front of my house.
Not to forget about all the big gulp, slurpee cups and chip bags that litter my yard as well…the little demons just don't care, they think my lawn is dumping ground for their garbage can….but I digress(I'll get over it)
Strangest place? How about at work?
This was about 1977 or so… Working at the brewery, I was on the production line at the time. I was on the uncaser, which is a saw blade under a conveyor belt that cuts off the bottom of the bottle cases. The cardboard goes one way and the bottles another. We always found interesting things in the debris tray, like coins and tools and keys.
Anyways, the cardboard was baled, palletized and stored in an outdoor compound. One day while loading a truck with these pallets, I happened to notice a one dollar bill on the ground. I jumped off the forklift and looked around a bit more and very quickly found a couple of twenties! So here I had $41 in a couple of minutes… at a time when a good wage was $4 an hour. Needless to say, when I showed it to the guys in the lunchroom, everyone was out there combing through the cardboard! Only one more dollar bill was found.
But it does make me wonder what idiot threw $40 in a beer case and does he ever wonder what happened to it???
Once I was shovelling the sidewalk between my house and the next (maybe 3 feet between the 2 walls) and I found half a $20 note. Several days later I found the other half.
Another time I was taking out the garbage and found a $5 note lying beside the dumpster.
I bought a jacket at a second-hand store and there was a $10 note in the inside pocket. (I guess the staff only checked the outside pockets.)
Otherwise, just the basics…parking lots, sidewalks, parks, at my feet at a fast food place (not my own $), oh yeah, and on the sidewalk in front of a bank.
use to go to garage sales every Saturday with a buddy he had them down to a running schedule mapping them out the night before and in six hours we would have been to well over two dozen locations. For me it was a fun day for him it was a business as he is a reseller. On one of these trips I bought three carpenters aprons and when I got home with all my stuff offered one to a friend when she picked one she said to me I will leave the one with the money in the pocket for you. To my surprise there was $70.00 in the one apron. Now had I remembered which address I had bought it from I would have gladly returned the cash but as the passanger on these trips never really paid attention to where we were or what I bought at any one stop. So my $2.00 purchase was a real deal for me.
in a book in an envelope with a note to a grandson that said, I hope you enjoyed the book so far. guess he never read it. Oh and his name was Mark. no last name, just signed love grandmother. p.s. it was a 10
I also found money in a book tuck into a envelope, but my money was that really old stuff from 30 yrs ago. I can't enter it it hasn't enough digits there was 25 one dollar singles.
A couple of stories for you: I drove over a wallet with my bike on Idylwyld Drive. I stopped and picked it up, and it had over $2000.00 cash in it. Once I got to work, I called the police lost and found and asked if anyone had reported a lost wallet. They said to bring it in. I said no, here's my number, and if someone calls, have them contact me. (I learned a hard lesson a few years earlier trusting the police with found valuables- but this is another story). A few hours later, a guy who was staying at what was then the Imperial 400 calls me, and identifies the wallet. I tell him I'll drop it off on my way home. When I get to the guy's room, he grabs the wallet, opens the coin pouch inside and takes out an old coin. He sighs with relief, pulls out 100.00 bucks and hands it to me and thanks me- didn't even check to see if all the cash was there, was just worried about the coin- interesting.
The next case of found money that was kind of kool was when I was in retail. A kid comes in with an old $1 and buys something at my store. When I looked at the bill, it had tape marks like if you had mounted it in a frame, and a bunch of writing and names on it. I figured the kid swiped it. If looked like it was some kind of prize for a fishing derby. Curiosity got the best of me and I started to Google the names to find the owner. I managed to find a couple of the guys on the note, and sent them photocopies of the bill asking them if it belonged to them. One of the guys wrote me back from a nursing home in Nova Scotia. Apparently he and his buddies met every year at a certain lake and there was a prize for the 'best trout'. His freind that won the prize had his name on the bill, as well as all the others that were there that year, and the date and the weight of the winning fish. Most of his buddies had passed on, and he wrote that only one other guy besides himself was still alive. He thanked me for the memories, sent me a fiver, and told me to keep the #1 bill. I still have it.
Cool story Idjit……….
On the pratice field before a Rider game I found a $5 bill. So I used it to but a 50-50 and won the 50-50!!! Swear to God this is a true story.
I used to have tenants in my basement suite…I don't anymore but those are other stories.
Shortly after my last ever tenant had left, I was doing a detailed cleaning in the suite and laundry room. When I moved the washing machine aside, there was a small plastic bag underneath, with a couple of moldy joints in it, and a $5 bill. The joints and bag went out to the garbage, and the five was spent on the next visit to Co-op.
Well I did find a sack full of cash in my car about 3 months ago. I was in Vancouver for the weekend and I stopped in the Royal bank on Artubus & 15th to get some cash(I parked in the back alley way) and when I came out in the back of my car was a sack full of cash and red dye all over the place. Its seems that the CIBC bank a few blocks away was robbed and the crooks dumped the loot in the back of my car (its a convertible and the top was down)
Well the cops were not to far behind and they took my car and the loot for evidence, it was about 2 weeks later I got my car back and the mess was cleaned up. They never did say how much money was in the sack and they did catch the crooks.
These are quite the stories for sure.
I have a couple, not really too exciting though
The first one was when I was a kid. I just had got a snorkel set and was using it for the first time. Anyways, I was underwater in the swimming section when I saw a fiver underwater. Surpringly enough, it wasn't moving too much under the water. Upon further looking, there was also about 10 dollars in change, loonies etc next to it. Needless to say the snorkel set just paid for itself the first day.
Another time I was walking around the building where I used to work a couple of years ago. It was next to a bar, so one can imagine what all gets dropped at closing time etc. It was a windy fall day, the leaves and other garbage were flying around when something caught my eye. It looked like money, so I caught up to it and found it was a ten dollar bill.
