Thinking of buying them. Any info on how much they're worth, anyone?

The real ones. The most pure non-bullion gold coins in the world: 99.99% gold. American Eagles are only 99.95% gold.

Canadian maple leaf gold coins are recognized as the prettiest in the world. Call Scotia Bank, I believe they carry them with less overhead cost than at a Coin Shop.
The daily price changes depending on the global exchange. South African kruggerands have less purity but they look nice also. The price of gold continues to climb steadily.

I know that the price on the stock market is huge ($500 Cdn.), but would that affect the price of the coins?

There's a small surcharge. I went through a phase several years ago collecting maple leafs. I think I paid about $35 on top of the bullion price. It's cheaper at Scotia but I think it's registered there which opens up privacy issues.

I am about to buy some silver. Its supposed to nearly quadruple in 10 years, because it being used up in labs, electronics, jewelry, etc. Right now it costs 7.50 a troy ounce, thinking about buying 15 ounces, than a couple each year from now on.

You say scotia bank, would it be the main branch in town?

Would the Royal Bank carry them? As they're a chartered bank, and chartered banks are supposed to carry them.

I only intend to get the 1/10 ounce coin, at about $60. Own a 2002 silver coin, paid $15 for it, and its still in the mint package. Also, getting a ounce from my dad that he won. Can get more coins (both gold and silver) in June for my b-day.

And as a last resort, since Salt Spring Island has their own currency, and its backed up by gold and the Canadian Dollar, the notes say "Will pay to the bearer on demand." So, I should be able to get gold coins at face value.

Hey Mmmbeer, mabye we should start a partnership? Make quick money with an Internet company, and then sell before it fails. With the few million we have, we buy Canada's entire gold and silver reserve.
