Does everyone know that the actual physical addiction from nictoine is 3-7 days! After that it's all psychological. Hey, what does our resident doctor have to say on this subject.. Serotonin?

I'm gonna use it - see if I get hit. lol!
And Master's right. You have to expect to feel like crap for ONE week of withdrawal (and please be decent enough to ALLOW yourself a full seven day flush) but after that it's all headgames.
Now there's a thought!
Perhaps the smokers here could ask Serotonin for just a little free advice?
Are there any little tips or tricks that would make quitting just a little more tolerable???
What is so hard?
First, you move to Alberta. The significant increase in costs for smoking have moved people closer to and in some cases quitting. Once the decision to quit is made, I get patients to keep a behavioral diary for 3 weeks to target the easiest and the toughest cigarettes. From that, devising different strategies to deal with the cravings which will pass if the environmental cues are changed. I place them on buproprion (Wellbutrin/Zyban). About 70% will have a decrease in nicotine cravings within 2 weeks. They remain on the drug for 3 months. For some, the nicoderm patch can be trialed over a 3 month period. It works on reducing the amount of nicotine slowly. But cost seems to be a major player. Lobby your government to hike up the price of a pack of cigarettes. The group that seems to have the toughest time are women in their 50s.
I have found that when I quit smoking, I find chewing gum or a toothpick helps. This replaces one habit with another but giving up toothpicks or gum seems to be less of a problem…
In BC, the cost is now $10 for a pack, and with a 14.5% total tax added to it.
In Saskatchewan the cost is about $10.00 per pack including tax plus or minus 50 cents depending on where you buy.
Summglers must make a lot of money out there! That was the problem in Ontario the last time they rolled back the taxes on smokes. But then they don't seem to have learned any thing from the lesson. OH well you can teach them but you cann't learn them!!!!!!LOL

Which means you don't eat or drink anything? Since absolutely ANYTHING causes cancer in rats.
Personally, I think the researchers got their wires crossed. What they SHOULD have found was that Testing causes cancer rats!
