When you preview your message the & lt and & gt changes in your message back to < and >. So when you post it the command is read and the scrolling begins.

If you preview your message, you'll have to change the < and > back to & lt and & gt.

The forum is supposed to be a place for communication, not for playing around with HTML. The place to play with HTML is a GeoCities page or something like that.

HTML in messages makes the actual text convoluted, both from a viewing perspective and from an indexing perspective. We get a lot of new traffic from people searching on a subject, and getting results from forum postings (such as radar bills, legality of writing on bills, etc…)
