I have a 10 that wont enter. BEI
I email dr about it so hopefully I can enter it soon. It is so nice and perfect I almost hate to write on it. But I will.

Brand new prefix by the BABN is the BEI.. They make it out of a different material so they last longer..

the old new bills were really crappy. looked like used snot rags after awhile. now if I could only enter that bill which is burning a hole in my wallet!! LOL

dr

Paul from Cdn Paper Money just sent me an email (best way to contact me about stuff like that) so I've added the new prefix.

I just tried and it works fine; make sure you have the right denomination/series… it's a $10 from 1989.

It entered under 89 but it says 2002 on the bill and it is the newer ones with the Flanders Fields on it. weird….but hey it is entered.

dr

Really? Hmm, okay, I'll switch the series right now. You should have told me that it was a 2002 bill.

Thought a new series would automatically be considered a new bill? umm duh? blonde moment? senior moment?

dr

The whole thing is weird. They have continued a 1989 series "BEx" with a new bill from 2002. I thought they didn't do that. That's why I originally entered the prefix into the database as a bill from 1989.

They're not still making the '89 series with that prefix though, are they? (Just checking 'cuz a friend of mine got an old 10 in AU condition the other day. I figured he just got lucky, but who knows…)

No, they're making some "new and improved" journey tens with the BEI prefix. They are on heavier paper and seem to have a deeper purple colour. We'll see how they hold up…certainly they can't get any worse than the "new" tens out there now!

money_king_84

Agreed! A deeper purple? Is it a different shade? I don't much care for the shade of purple on the new ones. Seems too tacky to me. (Here I go again…)

JaketheDrifter

The purple looks the same to my eyes. I got a few tens the other day and just flipping through them quickly, I could tell by the "feel" I had a BEI ten right away, even though it was showing some wear. These will definitely hold up better.

As far as the fives go, they haven't "new and improved" them. They're still the same old ratty wrinkled rags you're used to.
