...Take 2....

I don't understand why a note can't be re-entered if it has unassistedly found its way back to someone who has previously possessed it.

I believe there are essentially two types of "returns" possible: 1) a tracker enters a note, marks it, and then "launches" it…and then somewhere/somehow along the line that particular note finds its way back to the tracker who originally launched it…and 2) a similar thing happens when a note generates a hit and then finds its way back to the tracker who entered the hit.

I suggest that the site be revised to allow recording both types of situations.

I feel that neither should affect the tracker's CMT score.

I would further suggest that the above two scenarios be named 1) a boomerang and 2) a boomerang2.

Respectfully submitted,

I think that is an excellent idea.
If it dos'nt afect the CMT score & count as a hit, it would not affect the stats.
It would be just a little extra history.

Something to consider, Living in a small town I have had a few merchants and/or the bank give me one of my marked notes but I just ask for a different one as I cannot enter it again. But failing the system being changed we could put the note in our stats as we had this note originally on a given date and again on another given date. We could do this ourselves and call it as suggested, boomerang notes..
What do you think fellow trackers????

I agree that your suggestion is certainly workable…and, yes, it's certainly more likely to happen in a small community. I, too, live in such.

Already, I've had three notes boomerang on me; I've made note of them…when I first entered them…and when they returned. I haven't entered them yet in my profile; there's no question, though, that I can and, to some extent, that covers the situation. However, by going that way, the only time that someone will realize that a note boomeranged is if a tracker happens across that tidbit in my personal profile.

I would suggest that the site be altered in such a way that the boomerang effect would get recorded in the "hit history" of the particular note but in such a way that future trackers who hit that note could quickly and easily "see" that the note had previously boomeranged.

It seems to me that the boomerang effect is, at least, as interesting as some of the scenarios that the site is already recording. (How, for example, could some of the entries for the 2004 $20 note EYG8123 or the 2002 $5 note HNN5890 be justifiably worth recording?)

I suppose there's always the chance that someone will consciously falsify his/her own records…but, I suspect, there's some degree of that, in some form or other, going on any way. (Who could create a system so fool-proof that there was absolutely no way to "get around" it?)

I don't see recording the boomerang effect much different to a note being entered multiple times in the same community. (Let's face it, that COULD [and please understand that I am not implying that I think that that is going on] simply be some buddies passing a note around among themselves; couldn't any, so-called, "hit" be created by buddies in different communities?)

If we're working on the honour system (and, it seems to me, that that's what this site operates on) I'm probably less likely to consciously create a boomerang effect than I am to consciously create some fake "hits" (since, as suggested, the boomerang effect wouldn't affect the CMT score).

Well, BD (if I can call you such, Mr. Kingston), my apologies for unloading on you like this…but, if this topic is to be discussed, it has to get discussed somewhere.

You can call me BD and I don't feel like you are unloading on me, but bringing forward your point of view, and that is what this is all about. I like your idea and was asking for others input and suggesting a way you could track your boomerangs in the mean time. That being said, I would like to other trackers to give their views and maybe the assistants could present the idea to dr..

my 2 cents, I love the idea…. Ive had 2 "boomerangs" (love the name, if the changes are possible it should stick) in the past few years….I think if someone was continually re-entering the same notes as an issue of habit it would be noticed around here pretty quick. also, if they dont count towards your hit count or CMT score, theres less reason for unscrupulous users to try to manipulate the system.
my vote is to see if it can be done!

BDK IS WHAT MOST OF US CALL HIM … Mr. Kingston well nice is somewhat formal for this site but most deserving. Good luck on getting your ideas past / throught site assistants. Trust on this site heck please check your rose colored glasses at the door the site assistants trust no one and have proven that time and time again. I like the idea as expressed good luck on getting it activated on site.

Thank you for your response;

Your words, "I like the idea as expressed….", mean a great deal to me, at least, when I realize that you single-handedly have entered well over 100,000 notes.

Any other comments, fellow trackers?

BANKCOLLECTOR

I think that makes me one of the most addicted members on the site. My opinions are openly given on any new ideas and there are many things that could be changed but that is up to the site assistants so be prepared for a slow process.

When it comes to site changes, dr is the ONLY one who can do them. All we can do is some minor maintenance, and that's it. Except for adding prefixes and resetting passwords, we have no access to either the added note or user databases. And we definitely cannot edit the site code!

I think BANKCOLLECTOR uses both hands when entering bills.

Sorry I thought DR had given you more control … if this is the case then be prepared to wait much longer as I think with a new baby boy in his arms DR will have much more on his plate to deal with.

Well truth be told I have really slowed down on the site I seldom reach my daily limit and if you look at the weekly bills entered list I am not even in the number one spot weekly. Now that said I do enter more bills then most members and I spend many hours a week on the site along with other computer sites. If I did not have to work 12 to 14 hours a day I could spend more time on the site. My work days will be shorter come winter so I will be able to add more bills then.
