I am in need of a non-denominational, non-sectarian, politically correct invocation to use before a club meeting. Surfing revealed nothing appropriate. Here is what I have so far. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
We stand here today in fellowship and, if you believe in him/her, ask God, Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah, Vishnu, Gitchi Manitou, or whatever his/her name is, to bless this gathering and this food. Amen.
How about.
We gather here today in fellowship. Bless this meal, this gathering, and may we enjoy the evening to it's fullest… AMEN
BDK is on the right track, keep it short & simple.
There is only one true God, If you mention a bunch of "names" of true & false gods , You are going to offend people for including some & leaving out others.

No such thing as a false God. They are all true to somebody. Plus I don't want to anger the agnostics, the atheists or the feminists!
But I do like BD's suggestion. Just a bit too short though. Needs to sound and feel like a proper invocation.
shorter is better :)
could mention prayers for haiti though. that could add to it
I like longer.
"If you can't bedazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bulls**t."
Pooga is right. They're all true gods to someone, and it's almost impossible to not offend someone…
it's almost impossible to not offend someone…
So I want to be an equal opportunity offender!
Then you have to offend everyone including yourself… That's a tough one….
I could get offended by someone going too far trying not to offend anyone…
As we gather, I invite you to pause and think of that which gives you comfort, before we partake of this repast.
not sure of whom might be offended by something of THAT ilk… if nothing gives you comfort, then you are free to decline the invitation. so it's more of an invitation than an invocation…. (the latter connotes "prayer" anyway….)
all this kerfluffle.
good bread
good meat
good gosh
lets eat
over the lips, past the gums, lookout stomache here it comes
Like the short ones, but not appropriate to start a meeting.
