Is this a site you created kirk123? It looks not too bad.
Thanks for checking out the site. It is a site me and my friend have made. We are still working on the site so any suggestions would be greatly appricated.
I tried signing up but I never got an email with code.
WOW That is strange, we are still working on a few bugs. Please try again if no success please email me at followyourcash@hotmail.com ani I will insure you get logged in.
Thank you
I have went in and manually activated 2 accounts that were not activated yet, so you should be able to login now without issue. its possible the email went to your spam folder. Sorry about that.
forum heading: General Discussion
forum description: anything (italics mine) money related (again italics mine)
That should allow discussion of even a new money tracking site. (It should be interesting to see if these comments are allowed to stay around {and for how long}…or if they get treated like spam…or if I receive 39 lashes with a wet spaghetti noodle through a private message…or if I simply get kicked off the site…or whatever….)
As humans, we model our behaviour (to some extent, at least) on role models.
As parents, we hope our children pick "the right" role models…and that the children are smart enough to learn from the mistakes/short comings/weaknesses of those with whom they come in contact.
So as you continue to develop your site, please be open to learning from lots of sources in lots of different ways.
No doubt, you will want your site to be on the cutting edge of things. Sometimes that's easier said than done. In order to be there, you will need, at least at times, to go where no one has gone before.
One place that some of the competition has chosen not to go and where some of the rest of the competition has deferred going (for now) is into an area I have previously suggested…and which has had, at least, some support…is recognizing what I call boomerang and boomerang2 notes. There are threads in the archives of this CMT site that chronicle where that topic went and didn't go.
There are strengths and weaknesses with each and every site that I have, to date, encountered. So, to you as the developer of a new site, I would make this suggestion. Each time you encounter information that leads you to yet another money-tracking site, pursue the reference and check out the site first-hand. I'd suggest that you even enter a few notes at each site so that you see just how that particular site "feels".
In closing, I wish you well, including cutting-edge mentality, as you make what I see as a gutsy move within the money-tracking world.
We have put some thought into boomerang notes,
we are just trying to figure out the best way of implementing it
One of our thoughts , was to have it setup as a separate bill entering pages.
basically your entering all your notes, and come across one that says you have already put that note in the system. we would have a second button in the user menu called boomerang notes. which sole purpose would be to enter nots that have came back to you.
this forum your not effect your fyc score , but allow you to re enter the note into the system. we would also set a min fyc score you would need in order to use this feature , this would avoid fly by nighters from abusing the system, as they wouldn't be willing to take the time to get there score high enough to use the feature .
we could also add a field to the user stats named boomerang notes to keep track of how many the user has had.
let me know your thoughts on the above idea or if you have thoughts on a better approach . we would like to code as many useful features as possible. without cluttering the site with things that will never be used, and i think this is something that would get used, especially by those with high note volumes in circulations, as the more notes that are out there that you enter, the high chance of one coming back.
I have personally moved to the other site and think they are going to have a fine site. BDK is correct in his opinion and I have been swayed to change my opinion. The new site is fresh and alive. Good Luck CMT TRACKERS… happy tracking. I will come on site to enter any marked bills I find>
MY DISCLAIMER–THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION..
Both sites are about money tracking and both will have different users and a somewhat different feel. These sites are not incompetion with each other nor should that be. Hopefully they will be complimentary. Some will like one site more than the other and will gravitate to the one they like the most. That being said, I believe all money tracking sites should respect each other and we will all have more fun because of it…
Hope I made sense..
I have checked out the site in question…and I like what I'm seeing and hearing.
I believe that the various money tracking sites are in direct competition with one another (each is trying to attract and hang onto my participation/involvement) and I further believe that there's nothing quite like a bit of healthy competition to help keep the competitors on their toes.
I believe that we are already seeing a change in service quality here at this site…so,…I believe that the best site will eventually attract the most "business" and the rest will simply sit and watch…wondering about what could have been….
May the best site win!

well, it is my long-held opinion that if you ever see money tracking as "competition" then you just don't "get it". there are no winners. that has been amply evidenced by those who have tried to "win". it is a fun pursuit, and if only one person remains at a site, or if only one person still tracks banknotes and enjoys it… they are successful.
Isn't it wonderful to have choices! Wouldn't it be great to just MAKE a choice and stick with it and not throw stones at those who choose differently! But sometimes it seems, that's way too much to ask.
I agree that stones should not be thrown at people who make a choice to use a different site but I would like to ask the creator of the new site why he thinks we need four different money tracking sites in Canada. I don't want to register at a fourth site.
Our main reason, was we are in Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia) and if you check around, most of the tracking sites are in western Canada, with very few bills ever reaching this far.
plus several other reasons. not really in competition with anyone. and never asked anyone to move sites, just basically looking for opinions on the site/feel, for we can improve the site and make it as user friendly as possible.
only know of 2 other sites, cmt and ww. whats the other?
The other is WHIB wherehaveibeen.com….It's hit and miss lately..
The other site is wherehaveibeen.com and apparently you do know about the site as I just checked there and you have posted on that site. I haven't visited that site for a long time. Bills can still be entered but it doesn't appear that the site is currently active, which leads me to think that there is not even room for three money tracking sites.
"Lately"? I'd say nothing has changed. It seems to have always been an unreliable site.
well maybe the unreliability has more to do with its demise, than the fact that there are too many money tracking sites.
There is roughly 46 billion dollars in circulation in Canada. around 30% of that is not in Canada. leaving 32 billion in the country.
roughly 80 million is entered in the 3 systems you mentioned. ( thats not including notes that have been decommissioned since the sites started.) leaving 99.74% of money in Canada untracked. Think there is enough wiggle room for a 4th site, when one of the first three, is as you say unreliable?
I'm sorry to be so negative with respect to your enterprising spirit. I do think your site looks nice and the name, like wherehaveibeen.com is probably more reflective of the hobby. I do strongly feel, though, that another site just splits things up. Since we are all doing the same activity, one site would probably be the ideal so people can communicate and share. Two sites are good, too, because it does promote improvements. I also think another site makes things confusing for people who find the bills to enter so no I don't feel there is room for another site.
I enter in all 3 sites. I get most of my hits from WHIB.
It has been up and down for awhile but it is still active.
I have registered for the 4th site but have only entered one bill so far.
Not sure if I have time to enter to a new site.
I like the three that I enter to now.
Location of the site is irrelevant.
So the server is in Calgary. All it takes is dedication from a few users to get things started. Look at what we did in Saskatoon. We had the early numbers, but now things are more evenly distributed in the west. Now if say 6 people in Halifax entered 50,000 notes, you would see some new action.
So why a new site? Just enter more notes here. :-)
