New bill rumours...

Someone told me today that the B of C is recalling the Journey bills because they are not wearing well. Sounds like a pile of horse pucky to me- anyone heard anything??

I haven't heard anything, but it probably is a pile…they've issued some new BEI tens that are supposed to be better quality. I myself wouldn't be upset if they did recall the Journey bills - they are crappy and turn into rags in no time - you should see the two Journeys I got as change from Vern's Pizza last night! Plus they're ugly. I thought the birds were much nicer…rather see wildlife on the bills than people. Plus those nice white borders are much more CMT-user-friendly!

that roumor was out when the jouney series first came out.. Why would they spend millions of dollars on the jouney series, than cancel them? Sounds stupid to me

I haven't posted in a while…sorry folks! Still alive! Jake, I share your sentiments 100%. I much prefer the bird bills. And I wouldn't be surprised if the rumours were true. About half the old fives I see are in better shape than a lot of the journey bills I get. Actually, I was going to write about that. Is it just me, or are there a lot of old fives around still? In really good shape too! Do the banks still have bundles of 'em to release or something?

I have gotten some really nice old fives lately and some UNC ones from the ANU series. But, when I ask the banks if it's still possible to get UNC bird fives, they tell me no.

Well, when I went to get my money last week, I got more old fives than new ones. And it wasn't just 1 or 2 more, it was 5 more. And they were all in better shape than the new ones.

I haven't heard anything yet about a recall of the Journeys in Kitchener yet. But it wouldn't surprise me if they did due too a wearing down qiuck issue. I would have to agree that I've seen my fair share of crappy looking Journey bills. I've seen them looking worse then the birds. I liked the bird series better than the new journey series.

I find it interesting that even a year after they ceased to be issued that there are still so many Bird $5s around. I thought the fives were only supposed to last a year. And the other day in my change I had a Knight Thiessen $5 that was in better shape than an AOE Journey $5. Somthing sinister is happening….
