New Prefix, FIK $20

I managed to get 2 $20 bills with FIK for a prefix. I somehow got 2 bills with sequential numbers (!) I am not sure what to think as I got them from a friend. What are the odds?

…some bank branches, from time to time, receive bundles of new "banknotes" and simply use them in their day to day business thus getting the new notes into regular circulation.

Additionally, bank branches can order in bundles of new banknotes (100 notes per bundle)…if they are willing to do so. [Banks probably have a specific term for the "bundle" of 100 notes; I simply don't know, offhand, what it is.]

So there are a number of legitimate ways in which your friend could have received the notes in question.

I suspect that the press-in-the-basement idea was included, humourously, by Cityscape; counterfeit notes often bear a single serial number. I suspect that changing the numbers simply becomes too tedious a job….

I have a story about counterfeiting I'll tell you if you ask.

In the meantime, happy tracking!

I have to agree with the banks ordering of bill. Its happened to me before when I got bills from the bank that were like that.

It gives new meaning to going out and making money ;)

Sarge was a Brinks guy for a while. They used the term 'bundle' for 100 notes, and the term 'brick' for 10 bundles.

Nothing strange about it. They are all new bills at one time. I have in my "enter my limit days" … use to buy bricks all the time. Maybe not the true flow of money but was doing a lot of marking those days.
