Hey trackers!
I am wondering if anyone would like to share their mailing address in order to take part in a fun CMT snail-mail "contest". I don't want to give away the fun, but it's called 'The Traveller', if that is any kind of hint.
Also this is not a scam, an outlet for spam mail, or anything like that. fordjae is the one who started the "contest", so if you doubt my credibility, I'm sure he can back me up!
So if you want to participate, post your mailing address then wait patiently at your inbox!

is this the "role playing game?"

I can't really explain it further without giving it away, so here's the gist of it: The Traveller.
i think that may be against the rules
i really wasn't going to interject too early on this but schnits is spot on with his cogent observation. the expressed goal of this site is the tracking of the "natural flow" of currency. perhaps someone could explain how the proposal satisfies that condition?…
p.s. it has been done before.
p.p.s. it was castigated then too.
I agree with you that the purpose of the site is to track natural flow of banknotes, but I don't see any glaring problem with a fun 'team-building' activity such as this. It's not a method to harvest hits or underhandedly increase the CMT score of those partaking.
I think it's fun to get snail mail, especially when it's relevant to a hobby that other like-minded people are taking part in as well! I think it would be pretty neat to have a bill that traveled elusively between CMT members! The hit map would be like a web of trackers across Canada.
If it's ultimately deemed against the rules, though, then I'll have no problem conceding I suppose. However, I really don't see the harm in having a bit of money-tracking fun.
Technically against the rules. It was first condemned with this note, which is now in 'hit heaven'.
sprints…. the part that makes it "technically against the rules" (always loved that term… sorta like being "technically pregnant"… but I digress…) is the prescription that the recipient enter the note into the system FIRST, before spending it or passing it on. It generates a "hit" that did not occur "naturally" (here defined as the unencumbered/unconditional flow of currency).
By the bye… you CAN exchange and thus receive snail mail from other trackers WITHOUT it containing a tracked note – it used be called "penpals"! :)
just to put things in a bit of an historical context, I searched out these two threads about the infamous 6-hit note. note also that other users have tried similar things over the intervening years with various amounts of reaction. as I intimated in my first post here… there's nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9) :)

Is it not possible to send the note to hit heaven, while still allowing non-status hits?
What we should do is organize people who live in areas of fairly recognizable land marks (wheat field in sask, cornwall centre in regina, cn tower in toronto, peggy's cove, etc) and we mail the bill to everyone and they take a photo of it at a landmark (with serial number visible), and then post it to a website. We don't enter the bill on CMT (because it's wrong and immoral, illegal and fattening). I think that could satisfy everyone's wish to get free money in the mail.
