$5 Prefix HPS

Just entered my first bill which was a $5 with the prefix HPS that I couldn't find on the prefix table. Just entered 4 more (different prefixes) for my newbie daily limit. I will be back. Hopefully it won't be ages before I get that first hit.

Hi Cardman

Please try your HPS serial number again. That prefix has been in the database for a while and so it should work. I also want to tell you that your first hit may be soon or it may be some time coming. Sometimes a lot of patience is required. On average, only one in 10 notes get "hit" and sometimes, those hits are weeks in the making. The more you enter, the better your chances will be but don't be discouraged! This is a fun and interesting pastime!

I looked on the prefix table as well and could not find the prefix HPS… It must be a computer malfunction. Happy tracking and I hope you first hit comes soon….

I see my banknote using the "high/low" search using the utils page as the lower serial number and a higher serial number which I guess indicates two $5 banknotes are entered with the HPS prefix. Does not show the prefix yet in the stats under prefix. It must take time for it to get there.

Just so you know, Cardman, the "high/low" feature of this website is an idea that wasn't ever really strongly embraced by the members here and has not really been supported in development of the software. It still exists more of a legacy feature and so that part may not get as many updates. If you are interested in tracking the TRAVEL of banknotes, this is the site – some of us also are members of www.cdnpapermoney.com where, in the forums and database, the high/lows are tracked (but not so much the journey). We want you here, of course, but if you are obsessed as I, you might be a member of both!

Not sure how many of the HPS notes have been entered but HPS is in the database: HPS $ 5 (2006).
