Just to let you know, I am out of town for the next 3 weeks and have limited access to email. It's almost midnight here, and the temperature is 24C.

south, tropical and maritime… the time bit doesn't help much since we can't really trust the site's time stamp of 2:33am (but I'd still guess west of here by about 30-40 degrees longitude (maybe 135W?) that it is still 24C near midnight suggests a greater dew point. I might have guessed Oahu but they'd have better internet :)
Oooo…
Grade that as an A
Definitely headed in the right direction. False assumption on the Internet though. Limited access because we are either on the beach, at the pool, or on the golf course.
The beach is actually a breakwater for an old king's fishpond.

you made it too easy. :) not Oahu, but the big island… in Kona. Take a photo of a statue of King Kamehameha for me. and i figured golf would be nearby, although there's only a driving range really close…
Double clue:
Lots of golf around us, in fact, I am sitting here right now looking at the 4th tee of one course.
The last lava flow in the area was just south of here in 1859. It destroyed the largest known fishpond. It was almost 2 miles in circumference.

Some really cool topography on the Big Island. Not just the volcano, but also the cinder cones. There is a huge littoral cone just south of us.
We are just 100 metres west of a portion of the King's Trail, which was a lava road built around most of the island. And it is an amazing sight, Arrow straight in most areas, up and over lava flows, low areas filled in with crushed lava. And of course the Anaehoomalu Petroglyph Field, another fascinating site.

you finally made it into hell! Or southern USA which is about the same thing.
And across the fourth fairway, I can see Island Fish & Chips in the King's Shops. If you have extra chips, throw them in the water and watch the huge koi go nuts!

Would that be in Waikoloa? That place sounds like a great place to eat ;)
Thanks for showing. I sounds like they have good fish there!
