The new Ten dollar bill

Really nice job, Canada! I wish the US would start putting out some nice looking banknotes. The new ones here look like play money.

Ya, I definitely love the fact that 'up here' we have multi-coloured money. It's not just easier to distinguish bills but also makes things a little more exciting than just plain green. :)

Speaking of the new ten, where is it? There was a lot of hoopla about it when it was launched, but they're still hard to find. I heard a rumour about some kind of production problem.

Anybody know anything?

They are around. I work in a bank and we see them all the time!

The production problem was only a rumor. It was said that the poem on the back was using the wrong word, but in reality, that is exactly how Flanders Fields was originally written. It was copied directly from the Canadian archives in Ottawa.

Finally starting to see more of the new 10's. What's next to be replaced, and when will it start being circulated?

The next bill will be the 5. Starting in a couple of months, I think. The the other bills will start coming out over the next few years. There will be no new 1000 dollar bill – it's going to be discontinued.

I read on a website (Was it the bank of canada website? I don't remember) that although the new 5's were supposed to come out in the next couple of months, it was delayed until the beginning of 2002. I think it had to do with Christmas shopping coming up and that being a busy enough time for banks as it is.
