I am toying with the idea of selling my coin and bank note collection.
Two items stand out (they are buried at the bottom of the storage room, so I don't have them right in front of me):
I have 39 consecutively numbered 1973 $1 asterisk bills. Crisp Uncirculated.
I also have a $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bill with the same serial number. 000(whatever)00159. I was a member of the CNA when I was younger and when the bills were switched over to what I called "The Spirograph Design", the CNA offered to sell these bills in sets to their members. Crisp Uncirculated.
Any idea on value? I can supply the serial numbers, but it will be a hassle to pull everything out.
Is your set from the multicolored series? Are the 1973 notes Lawson-Bouey, 2 letters or 3 letters; or Crow-Bouey?
I looked it up in the Charlton book, and see there are two separate listings. They are Lawson Bouey - and 742, not 159.
$1 AAA0000742
$2 ABA0000742
$5 30000000742
$10 EDA0000742
$20 50000000742
$50 EHA0000742
$100 AJA0000742
I see the prices listed separately for 5 & 20, and 1, 2, 10, 50, 100.
For the multi-colored matched set that you have, the book value for UNC is $900.
Sounds like an absolutely beautiful collection… The "spriograph" bills are my favorite! I'm not sure if I'm an enthusiastic enough collector to spend 900 bucks…but I'll bet it'd be a nice set to look at!$!
