Anybody else tried of the Starbucks monopoly? They bought out Seatle's Best Coffee and are sueing Haida Bucks over the name?!

I think it's stupid and I hope that Haidabucks wins the case.. after all it is a native name not a corpate name.. Futhermore I think these corporations are getting a little to anial. I mean chill out it's just a name… it's not llike they deliberately named it after starbucks, and even if they diid who cares, how far is it to the closest starbucks anyways. Those Americans need to chillout.

Although in my heart I want to agree with you, given the law of the land, I can't.

Molson took us (Great Western Brewing Company Limited) to task over one of our brand names. They thought that our Gold brand name (available in B.C.) was too close to Molson Golden. After several years of legal wrangling we were allowed to keep the name, but with certain packaging changes. The only loser was the consumer, who ended paying the legal bills for both sides through higher prices!

The main thing is protection of a trademark. It's a major area of commercial law nowdays. If there are any lawyers on here that can explain it (for free!), please be out guest.

IT's Simple only drink Tim's Coffee… Most of the Cops in this town do it that way :)

Yes thats a good point, but the lawsuit is stupid, so the best thing would be to boycott until the whole thing is settled.

Naww…boycotts almost always never work (ever hear of the positive effects of negative publicity?). Anyways..nobody gives a "bleep" about some Natives in northern(?) B.C.. I'm with slayerchick, Starbucks needs to take a pill. (death to lawyers!!)
