does that site take other bills or just ones? I got a sh-t load of U.S. money that I have not had a chance to go down and spend yet. no ones though. keep waiting for our dollar to get weaker but it keeps getting stronger. should have cashed them in long ago. some people never learn. too greedy.

open up a sub US account under your normal chequing account.. and when the dollar gets up… do your exchange.

antics

dont like the fees. costs me nothing to keep it here.
i have an account in the states as well. i transfer there once in awhile an play the waiting game. till bills have to be paid that is. now that I have waited soooo long, i have lost this time. oh well that is life when you are greedy.

yuppers!! I think it was about 2.75 a month which of course is more than you can make on the interest. that was years ago and they still have fees as I asked. I did not ask how much as it does not matter. I have the u.s. accounts. I have so many relatives there that it is not a big deal to have them make deposits for me once in awhile as it is a pain to go there lately. actually coming back is the hard part. going is easy. and i found out I can enter other bills on wheresgeorge so I did so you need not answer the blond question pooga.

I use a Canadian bank U.S. dollar account to keep my U.S. cash. There are no fees, and it's a regular savings account in all other respects. Opening one is quite different from bank to bank though- Scotiabank wanted me to make an appointment and come see someone the next day (I walked out on that suggestion); CIBC teller opened one for me in 5 minutes- that's who got my business.
The only issue with this account is they don't take coin, so I just collect it and take it to the states on vacation and convert it to paper money to bring back home. I don't think it's greedy, for me it's like found money.

I just entered a US bill on there, antics, and it takes all US denominations, and is linked to whereswilly.com, meaning you can enter WW bills there also. At least thats what it said after I signed up.

" they don't take coin"

Banks will try to make a buck wherever they can. When I was working for Securicor, I discovered that the Royal Bank routinely seperates US coin from Canadian coin whenever or however it comes to them. Then as a branch gets about $100. worth (Can value), they send it to a Central branch for the exchange. But try asking for the exchange as a customer of the the Royal!

I am aware of this also. There are other perks for bank employees too- like deals on mortgages that regular customers can only dream about. As consumers, we need to start telling banks what we will accept or not. I've sat in a loan officer's office and told her she was out of line with a mortgage offer, that she better sharpen her pencil or I'd walk across the street and take all my business with me. She smirked and told me I wouldn't get a better deal than she was offering- then I pulled back her curtain and showed her the sign on the competing bank across the street- a point and a half lower than her 'best' offer. needless to say, it changed the whole tone of our negotiations after that…
The sad truth is that banks have us all coming to them with hat in hand, when really it should be the other way around. As long as we let 'em do it, they will walk all over us. Maybe that's why I am so militant about banks giving money trackers a hard time…
