I would agree with you J-Lynn but I have 'NO' idea where you are because you and Sweetie have got everything hidden from us. Do you know that it drives Pooga and I crazy (me not as much as Pooga) because we have an interest in the stats. Speaking of stats have you noticed your hit stats and what your percentage adds up to? I agree with Suzuki. It drives me almost as crazy as him (but not as much as Pooga) that you have everything hidden. I don't mind your name, sex, and age being ** out. But we like to look at your bills and hits. Also as Idjit and Pooga say "Please enter your location." It makes organizing gatherings easier.

As for the stats- The list contains all hits given and received by the user but to find the percentage the total hits for the user is used. So J-Lynn has 4 hits but has also given 5 (I presume b/c I can't see her hits). So the total percentage is (4+5)/4=225%.

Sorry if it drives people crazy that I hide my stats… but it was an option that was given to me, so I took it. And at one point, my stats were viewed by whoever, then I took it off for a very valid reason, and I did talk to DR about this.

Again… I am sorry, but until things settle more. My stats are not going to be revealed.

I gotta say I am sitting here shaking my head (not that, that is anything new) but I want to ask you a question.

Does anyone here know anything about "PERSONAL PRIVACY"? The definition, why someone might want to not let too much information out, etc.

I am sure some people are wondering how I have tracked certain details down about some of the users of the site that I have sent things to, etc. I am a consultant that deals with internet and personal security. I stop people from stealing other people's identities I therefore know an awful lot about how they do what they do. And can use those same techniques for good instead of bad.

Where did this belief come from that just because a person agrees to participate here means they have waived their right to personal privacy?

Both J-Lynn and Sweetie participate on this site on a daily basis, many times a day, the fact that I don't know their ages, or stats is irrelevant too me, and I think that if a few people not allowing you to view their stats is all it takes to drive you crazy, medication might help, or a hobby like fishing, or diving, etc.

I am fairly new around here, less than a year, so I may not know the customs yet (like ragging on other peoples HITS) but I do know that people are upset about this topic, and I want this place to be fun, not someplace we all come for our daily dose of slagging.

So to that end, "If you don't have anything nice to say… Don't waste the table space…" Yeah it's a geek thing :)

Like stated earlier, its not to drive people crazy, nor do I want to stir the pot, but it was a decision that I took. I will not speak for the rest who have chosen not to reveal some of their stats, but i have noticed that Sweetie and I are not the only ones, and I respect them.

Now… back to marking and trying to get hits :)

Yes we know. But we are not asking for names, addresses or phone numbers, not even email addresses. All we are asking is for people who are part of the community to be a full member. As far as an individuals stats are concerned, that is thier perogative. The hits are just easier to view from the profile. We can see them the general stats area in any event.
The location issue is another thing. A small town user may want that kept secret (viewable in hits anyways), but what we have asked dr for, and he has agreed, but not implemented yet, is to at least make the province visible.

You obviously haven’t been around here long enough to get a handle on attitudes around here. A person who is an active participant is here to track the bills. That is the number one object of the site, not chatting, not forums, not even bill collecting.

I spend a lot of time trying to welcome new users, keep an eye out for first hits, orphans, etc. I HOPE I’ve been able to help dr maintain and improve the site. Now if you are suggesting that what I am doing is wrong or foolish because you don’t like it, I can walk away from this site. It won’t be easy, considering all the time and effort I’ve invested, but I will if push comes to shove!

It seems to me that the only person upset right now is you. We’ve been self-policing the site for quite a while, but it seems that since you are a friend of dr’s, you have decided to take it upon yourself to speak for him.

I therefore know an awful lot about how they do what they do. And can use those same techniques for good instead of bad.

So this is how you were able to STALK SexyChick to her place of employment, not once, but twice. Without her permission, you made contact with her. Later, it was also how you found out about her accident so quickly.

The long and the short of it is that Bish0p is friends with SexyChick and her parents; SC just didn't realize that he was "Bish0p"… so that's how he knew where she worked. And he knew her identity because of information I gave him. I asked Bish0p why he had logged in from the same computer as Sexy Chick (with a few hours difference between the two) on a certain day, which I thought was weird given that Bish0p usually logs in from home only. Bish0p put two and two together and realized that he had logged into the site from the friends place while fixing their computer.

In any case, all is good. Some people like their privacy and some don't care. I'm about 50/50 when it comes to only privacy; I don't mind giving out my email address because Mozilla 1.3 and 1.4 filter out the SPAM for me. But for whatever reason, I still tear the address labels off snail mail addressed to me… it's the way I am. :)

Like both you have said(I think you both have, sorry if I'm wrong), keep these little conflicts between the two of you. because no one else really wants to know, and this site is for tracking money, not yelling at each other.

The statistics and geography of tracking bills are still the number one reason I am here. If I need medication to cure that 'affliction', so be it.

This Dr. prescribes an IPA for your affliction, I'm sure dr would concur!(As if you really need a second opinion.)
