Okay, I've finally gotten around to setting up a chat server for the site. Simply use any IRC-compatible client and connect to the following address:
irc.edgeoftheearth.com
The channel to connect to is: #cdnmoney
This server is not permanent (yet), meaning that the server may change in terms of software, location, channels, etc… so don't get completely attached. Also, if it creates to much load, hassle, whatever it may disappear altogether. So play nice.
I will probably be connected most of the time. However, I may not always answer as I have to work, eat and sleep. :)
Let me know if you run into any problems.

Wanna put that in plain english for us old folks? What do I need to do?
I'm an IRC virgin!
What do I need to do?
Umm, well I'm more into instant messengers myself, so I'm not an expert by any means. However, a quick search of Google turned up this site:
http://www.irchelp.org/
The entire site is dedicated to helping people with IRC (ie. chat).
Basically, you have to install a chat client (program) such as mIRC (for Windows) or Ircle (for Mac), then use it to connect to the chat server I have running. See that help site for more details. See you online… :)

Seems like a roundabout way of doing it. Why not chat area right on the website? (That's what our compuer club has.. no clients needed)

The problem with that is that you force people to use a client they aren't familiar with. And you may be forcing the user to use 2 clients… in my case I have an IRC client open most of the time to talk to some people in California about an opensource project I'm part of. Plus, if you want to hang out on the chat, you have to have the browser open all the time. I dunno, I may look into one built into the site, but for now you'll need a separate client.

Alright! Was nice talking to you on the chat site this morning.
Now if a few more people would show up……
