Remember…
A VETERAN no longer has to be in his 80's. He can now be in his 20's.

A a retired military member (VETERAN) I salute each and every past and present serving member.

We did so you may…

OH CANADA, our home and native land!!

Take some time today to serve remembrance.

AMEN

BANKCOLLECTOR

I too am a past member and remember our fallen every month of the year and 11/11/11 is a must. Our new Prime Minister seems to want to make our country into a refugee camp. I looked at the crowd that gathered at our local service and could not help but notice how few of our newest immigrants came out to remember those of us who freed them. How quickly they forget.

It was his father who 'opened up the floodgates' for refugees coming to Canada over the past years (in our time). I believe he is just following in his footsteps (sorta "like father like son" kind of thing).
While I do not have any problem with allowing refugees into Canada, I do believe that we need security measures in place to "weed out the bad ones".
Canada is a multicultural country and we will welcome them with open arms (at least some of us will).
A problem that I have is giving them all the rights and freedoms and "privileges" immediately upon arrival. Not fair to those of us Canadians who worked for years to get what we have.
Now not wanting to turn this into a political debate forum, I welcome them.
Many do not know what the meaning behind Remembrance day truly is.
I also believe that since Canada has become "active" around the world, and we have much younger VETERANS, it does help the newer generations in a revival of the day and the meaning behind it. Shame, it came about for the wrong reasons.

Re: Trudeau the Elder:

"It has long been known that Trudeau was desperate to avoid military service during the 1940s, and that he liked to mock les Anglais by riding around Montreal on his Harley-Davidson dressed in what many took to be German military regalia."

"Pierre Trudeau had little taste for the alliances and relationships he inherited in 1968. His spending spree did not include the military. He cut air and naval capabilities, pulled troops home from Europe, and embarked on morale-destroying reorganizations of the military services. In 1968, Canada was a serious second-tier non-nuclear military power. By 1984, Canada had lost its war-fighting capability: a loss made vivid when Canada had to opt out of ground combat operations in the first Gulf War of 1990-91."

Was Trudeau a Disaster For Cananda? Yep.

I will not weigh in on this political stream a brewing. We who are older and lived through his playboy days remember what he left us. Wish Sarge was still on the site he could bring much to the conversation on our military today.
