Local gatherings

As almost everyone knows, the Saskatoon members hold regular Gatherings to socialise, compare stamps and stories, and basically get to know one another. (Our next one is scheduled for July 27, and it is supposed to be organised by redmax… if he still wants to).

Edmonton has had their first gathering and Calgary is sputtering their way towards their first.

BUT…. with all the users in Regina and Moose Jaw, isn't it about time you people started thinking about one? Start small like we did. Meet one evening at a restaurant like Pizza Hut or Boston Pizza and get to know each other!

I promise that you'll like it! I really enjoy meeting with the other local users just to sit and gossip. (yeah, I know Idjit, I do most of the talking!)

Saskatchewan has already set a date and place for next year's Provincial Gathering. One idea that came up at the last Saskatchewan Gathering was a National Gathering/Convention. How about it? Or a we still a little in the small/young/developing size to consider one?

great idea, pooga, but i think that one difference you'd find between users in the YXE area as opposed to YQR is that the people around saskatoon are probably actually civil to each other in forums and such. :)

i think that gatherings of any sort are usually a great idea to get people together who share a passion for something as intoxicating as tracking money. i, however, usually avoid them because i am a horrible, spotty, old troll.

Pooga I think it'd be great… I'd love to come to some meets and have fun…. and from my chats with others around here I think almost everyone in the cdn site is great and friendly… I've had hrs of fun chat in the chatroom and look so forward to meetin people in person… I think a meet in Regina would be great… and a big meet for all of the site even better… had my car not been running bad i'd have shown at the provincial one… :)

A note about the looks of a person… its not a beauty contest but a gathering of people with a love for something… besides true beauty is within… I'd love to meet anyone here from the site at a meet… :)

Hah! We weren't when we started! BUT, actually meeting face-to-face with the person you're dissing changes things immeasurably! And does offer up the occasional surprise. (Saskatoon users remember Circlesky!)

Thanks for reminding me. Yes. I’ll arrange a time and place for the 27th of July.
If all works out will have the restaurant to ourselves.

well rudyk, it is obvious you never saw the photo of myself and my husband that was on my profile page. It got deleted from my website, so I will put it back later. I am the one in the black hair, greenish cast to the skin and the attitude problem. My husband is the one in the pink sweater and skirt. I will put this back on later today. Even though the man doth objects. :o)

well pooga i'll offer to one in weyburn for those in regina and this way if anyone wants sometime in july… let me have some input in this if more then 2 wanna come i'll find a place… :)

I would go to Weyburn shewolf! I just looked and it's right on the 35, straight south from me. Either there or Regina. I would bring the kids and get a hotel with a pool and stay over night, would be a holiday!!

Way to go shewolf and crazz! Just takes one or two friendly gestures like that and suddenly there is a 'critical mass' (for lack of a better term) of hospitality. Just don't get too fancy on the first one.

You'll be surprised how well 5 or 6 people, who have nothing else in common, can get along when it comes to a mutual addiction!

Way to be you two….Get omething going down there and see what it's like. Maybe run an ad in the paper too and see if you can pick up some of those "anonymous" users that keep entering bills (just kiddin of course). I got another hit from weyburn this morning from anonymous, and with your hit shewolf, that gives me three from Weyburn, so there are people there who participate. Perhaps you can convince them to register… :-]

I am going to try make it to that gathering on the 27th. I really like restaurants that have the soup and salad before the meal thing. Try to get one of those ones lol. About having the whole restaurant to ourselves, I doubt that would happen. That would be money lost for the owner. Just as for their banquet room.

Nelson, never doubt anything, all is possible. (except photos in an hour from wal-mart) Although It's not set in stone yet, it looks like it will happen. It's just who ya know.
However, I do need some kind of head count.
The sooner the better, anyone who knows then can make it let me know.
