IMHO: Gibson's (Saskatoon):Used to be pretty good, has deteriorated to a greasy spoon.
East Side Mario's (Calgary): Very good, along the lines of the Olive Garden, but neither can hold a candle to Peter's Place in Kamloops.
I think Gibson's was always a greasy spoon, but most real F&C joints are. I remember a place I went to in Gastown in Vancouver- I think it was called 'The Only' on West Hastings. I don't even think they had a bathroom and there was 20 years worth of dirt on the ceiling- best seafood I've had anywhere.
In psychiatry we describe this as cognitive derailment,(fancy for train off the tracks)
