after entering more than 2500 bills i have finally come across a bill that reads front to back the same a five AOB60***06. I am always watching for unususal serial numbers and finally found one. I was pleased. i did not stamp it yet.

It's called a radar bill. You wouldn't think that they were all that rare, but dr was telling me that he just saw his very first radar on Friday.

PS - Don't put the full serial number of a bill in a public forum. Go back and edit it with a couple or three '*' right after you read this!

Thanx Pooga regarding the serial number of the bill I didn't know and Suzuki clued me in on that to…if I ever find another one i will be more knowledgable about entering it. Suzuki mentioned that someone might like to buy this one to add to their collection. Well let me know although I have entered it I have not marked it yet.

well MmmBeer I am going to say that this bill is in very good condition. There is a tiny tear at the top and other then that if you iron it ….it would be very fine condition.

I am sure it is not worth anything more than face value but if you want me to mail it to you i certainly will do so.

hahahaha never thought about that. That makes me wish it was in mint condition LOL. I tucked it away and if he wants it he can have it. Other than that I will hang on to it just because it was my first reversed serial number bill.

Speaking of radars, how much is a journey series UNC $5 bill worth? Does it make much of a difference if it's a 2, 3,4,or 5 number radar? If the prefix is a radar as well?

MmmBeer

Cant have 5 number radars.. 2 Digit radars are a bit higher of a price because they are more rare than a 3 or 4 (which you get in every brick [1000 bills]). 3 or 4 digit radars in UNC are usually about twice the value on the face.

An UNC five Radar if valued in the book at 12 dollars.

Thanks, MmmBeer. I thought there was only one radar bill for every 10,000 consecutive bills. Some guy ordered 20,000 UNC five dollar bills at a local bank. The teller told me he usually does this twice a year - he takes the bills home, goes through them and brings them back a couple days later. She said he only kept 2 bills out of the 20,000 he ordered this last go round. I found this out when I stopped in at this bank to get some UNC fives. They saved some of his fives for me and sure enough, when I went through my little stack, a 4-digit radar was missing. From what I could tell, the other bill he kept would have been a 3-digit radar.

To come up with $100,000 just to make about $10 seems a little extreme to me (not that I wouldn't love to be able to get my hands on 20,000 UNC fives)!

solid radars (only a single repeating digit) are another unique area. In these the number 8 solid is worth more because it apparently represents good luck..
