Recently whenever I get $5s from the bank, recently at least a quarter are G/FR or worse. Most shops won't even accept them… I find myself having to redeposit them into the bank a lot of the time. Not even the ATM will accept them! Anyone else experiencing this?
And yes, I know "recycling" notes is highly discouraged, but I feel like I don't really have a choice here. I might just stop withdrawing $5s if this keeps up.
I have never had a note refused.
Yeah… my notes get refused all the time, even ones in good condition. Even unmarked notes get frequently scrutinized when they're in bad condition? Maybe Vancouver just has quite a few counterfeit bills….
Yes, After just 2 days of getting bundles, I too have noticed the poor shape of some $5 notes. But I also got a bunch of new $5 notes (INA, INB prefixes) in those same bundles.
Now come on guys the bank is your store to get cash. Ask for what you want as in, May I have a Brick of fives in like new condition. or find out which bank branch is the source point for new fresh bills. Royal Bank has one branch that sells me mint wrapped fives all the time. My regular bank has poor fives so I order $100.00 notes from them to buy 5 dollar bricks from the other bank. If your willing to accept trash bills they will gladly sell them to you. Just say NO! If you have the money in their bank you have the right to ask for the bills you want. And before somebody tries to say Bankcollector said. The bank will not sell you a pile of Radar Fives.
My local BNS is open 4 days a week on the days I work/attend class, from 11:00 to 16:00 - ATM only for me!
Unfortunate, but that's the case….
