A reminder to everyone that if you recieve an email from Microsoft saying to install a "Critical Patch" Do not open it, or install it. Don even click on the file. Delete it right away, It is a virus, and It will wreck your computer.

The email looks as if it were realy from Microsoft, but don't download it at all, I can ensure you it is not official. Only download patches directly from the Microsoft Site.

Also, Never upload any files from email's where you don't know the sender.

… and avail yourself of some updated anti-virus software. I got mine after a bout with the Klez virus. My software has already intercepted 9 attempts of this 'Critical Patch' thing…

antics

I had Nortons, got 2 viruses, switched to McAfee a couple years ago and not one problem. A friend of mine chose something other than McAfees and her computer is down. too bad she is so far away. she has no one to help her clean it up and has only basic computer knowlege.

I've got Norton and never had a problem. I've had the virus sent to me on 3 occasions. I'm always suspicious of those things because you can always download anti-virus protection directly from Microsoft. At least thats usually the case every time a new vicious virus is launched online.

I have too much at stake to take chances. My winter income etc. I had Nortons and got 3 new viruses that were out before they had updates to this way it updates itself and I do nothing but okay it etc.

Took a trip to Toon town this weekend and found 370 "critical patches" in the mailbox last night.
What a welcome home that was! It took 35 minutes to download and about 1 min. to delete.
