Reasonable expectations

I am a newbie who has entered 23 bills since Oct. 4, 2003. No hits yet. Can anyone give me an idea of what is a reasonable length of time to wait for my first "hit", or even the number of bills I should expect to enter before getting a "hit".

I am a fairly patient person so I am certainly not at the point of throwing in the towel, but I am curious about the experiences of other newbies - or the wisdom of some of the experienced.

I think I took about 3-4 weeks to get my first hit.
I also entered my limit everyday for the first few months, and it took awhile to get hits regularly. Now I get them pretty much every day.

It depends on your situation. I think it took about a month and a half after I started marking and entering bills daily, around four hundred bills (only 300 marked).

If you are in one of CMT's major markets (Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, Moose Jaw, etc.) it takes less time because there are other users and people are already aware of the site. It also depends on internet access, where there is a higher internet usage you are more likely to get bills entered.

You are in an enviable position of being the first user in your location. This means that you have the potential to enlist many new users to join in the fun. (Just like Pooga in Saskatoon, MAGWER in Manitoba, ANGLOFROG in Quebec.)

Don't give up hope, we would all like to have this site truly national, and may the hit-gods shine on you.

I have to agree. 3-4 weeks is actually on the quick side. 6-8 would probably be more reasonable, but that all depends on how many marked bills you have out in circulation. I have also seen users who waited over a year for a first hit, but that is pretty rare.

For me it took 39 days and over 250 entries, but that was when Regina was lower down in the list of cities with most entries. Once you get the first hit they should come fairly steadily. Happy tracking! :)

There is no reasonable length of time. Some people get hits sooner than others. Good thing your patient. The more bills you enter the better your chances are of getting a hit. So keep entering and hopefully a hit will come your way soon enough.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement. In view of the situation here, it is unlikely that I will get a hit before Christmas, or possibly even spring. So far as I can determine, there are only two of us in Frederiction, and only three in all of New Brunswick who are marking bills on a regular basis. My chances of finding a western bill are probably better than a local one! None of us are entering huge amounts of bills. For myself, I only enter the bills that come my way; I don't actively seek them out. That's okay. It is just for fun so I enjoy the site and no doubt will get a hit one of these days.

Don't sell yourself short. You never know when and where your bill will turn up and be hit. One of my bills turned up in Kamloops BC today. Surprised the heck out of me. Keep entering those bills, you'll never know when a hit will show up.

And you never get tired of it. I've been doing this for 2 and a half years and still get a thrill when a bill shows up after a long sleep, or far away (my bill that baier found is perfect example).

don't be to impatient because it did take me awhile to get a hit and just once in a while a hit would come up but the more money I entered the more hits i got and now I am getting hits on a regular basis…as a matter of fact I so surprised at how many hits i am getting lately so you never know. Keep marking and spending and they will come.
