Being of strong British heritage, it is a sad time in our lives as we mourn the passing of QUEEN ELIZABETH II. May she forever rest in peace.
I suspect there will be many changes within the monarchy now that KING CHARLES III takes over the role that he has been prepared for his whole life.
LONG LIVE THE KING!
Yes, it will be different to see a new face on our Canadian notes & coins. I do remember the old King George notes (and still have a few in my possession today). How long will the Canadian Mint wait to make the change, well just half to wait and see.
The mint has no say as to when it happens. This must come from the Federal Government to direct the Printers as to their wishes. Clerks will be buzzing around getting the relevant paperwork in order for the Minister to present to Parliament to vote on. A no brainer but I bet they muck it up. An organized Government would have all the paperwork in order already as we knew the change was coming we just did not know when. I wonder if they will go to press before Christmas 2022? In notes they will most likely onl y change the twenty. (Royal Dollar) The new coins if they hustled their butts would make great Christmas Gifts.
Many People have suggested that it might be a good time to break away from Monarchy. To those who think this I say for shame on you! People who think we should just throw years of tradition to the wind make me sad. God Save the King may it be sung load and clear throughout all parts of Canada. Be proud of our heritage and show that pride often. May the Queen Rest in Peace and OUR KING CARRY ON.
There may come a time, in the not-too-distant future, when you no longer see the face of Queen Elizabeth II when you open your wallet, if you still use cash, and will instead be greeted by her son and successor, King Charles III.
When that may happen is yet to be determined. The late monarch will maintain her place on the $20 bill and on Canadian coins for now.

The organizations responsible for the production of our money, the Bank of Canada and the Royal Canadian Mint, are staying mum on the future of Canadian currency as people mourn the death of our head of state. So, too, is the Department of Finance, which makes the final decision on any design updates.
I think the new bills will take a long time to appear, however the time will come. The coins will come before the notes.
